  1. I think that I have resolved this problem for myself. I charged the battery overnight and the PAS has kicked in every time since then. I hope this helps someone else. Cheers
  2. C5 2007. 15000 miles. On starting the car the PAS does not always kick in. Once started OK there is no problem. The fluid reservoir is full. Any ideas please? Thanks.
  3. Yes . The answer is really quite simple. I want to fit an existing Taurus 123 electomagnetic reversing system to the car. The reason I want to fit this rather than the standard 4 sensor kit is that I have a tow bar fitted and that interferes with the operation of a standard kit. I have fitted the sensor strip at the level of the existing holes in the rear bumper but that is too low for the electromagnetic system which needs to be about 50cm from the ground. In fact I have already fitted the system to the car but because I have not been able to remove the bumper I have had to try to reach up from under the bumper and skirt. This gives a temporary installation. I really need to remove the bumper to do the job properly. I know how to remove the rear light clusters and the outside fixings but the rest of it is unknown territory.
  4. I need to remove the rear bumper of my 2007 C5. Can someone guide me through the steps please?
  5. Thanks agin Paul, you are most helpful. I have succeeded in fitting the foil sensor strip without removing the bumper or skirt. Loosening thr trailing edge of the skirt gave just enough room for me to get my hand and arm under the bumper. The sytem now works (temporarily tested using the rear side light connector as a 12v source). The only job now required is to get a connection to the reversing light circuit. You are probably correct in saying that it may be better to get the towbar fitted and use their connection. I have read in a couple of places on the forum that there is a trailer connector in the boot somewhere. I cannot find anything like that on my 2007 car even after removing the trim.
  6. I need to make a connection to the reversing light on a 07 C5 hatchback from the spare wheel well. But the reversing lights are on the boot lid. What is the best way to make the connection please?
  7. Thank you Paul. Today I have released the fastenings on the lower edge of the rear black skirt and managed to feed the sensor foil along the inside of the skirt. I have also managed to run the end of the sensor foil into the spare wheel well. The next stage was to connect the contol box to a reversing light. To my dismay I now see that the reversing lights are on the boot lid! As the car has 4 holes in the skirt I assume they are intended to take ultrasonic sensors when ordered as a factory fit. If this is so there may well be a conection point to the reversing light somewhere down at the back. I'm hoping so. I intend to havev a tow bar fitted by the local professional but he says that he does not remove the skirt on the C5. He makes a couple of cuts as shown on the Witter website. Come to think of it he must know how to connect to the reversing lights too. Anyway thanks again. If anyone knows of a reversing light connector down near to spare wheel well please let me know. My C5 is the latest model with 07 plates.
  8. The reason that I need to access the back of the rear bumper is that I have a tried and tested Taurus reverse parking sensor which I know will work OK with a towball on the car. This consists of a metal foil strip stuck to the back of the bumper. It is an electrmagnetic system rather than the usual utrasonics. I now suspect that all I need to remove is the lower section of the rear skirt. I can undo the central fastener under the skirt but there are two others which I cannot work out how to release. Any ideas please?
  9. I have a reversing sensor consisting of a long metal foil strip which needs to be stuck to the inside of the rear bumper on a 2007 C5 hatchback. How do I remove the bumper to do this? Thanks.
  10. I need to remove the rear bumper of my latest model C5 hatchback to fit a reverse parking sensor. Does anyone know how to do this please? Thanks
  11. Hi, I am trying to do the same thing on a 07 C5. Have you sussed it out?
  12. Sorry about the multiple posts ... novice at this. To clarify, the apparent insert in the rear bumper extends almost the whole length of the bumper and is about 3 inches high.
  13. Picking up a 2007 C5 tomorrow. Two questions. 1. The rear number plate is low on the body. I plan to fit a shield to protect against careless hitching and this extends about 3 inches above the towball. Will this obtruct the view of the number plate? 2. I want to fit a reversing sensor which is a metal foil strip which sticks to the inside of the rear bumper (no holes needed). How do I get access? There is what appears to be a 3 inch horizontal insert in the rear bumper. Does this clip out or is it just part of the moulding? Thanks.
