  1. I would not trust an adaptor harness. Look at the link in post4.
  2. I never sorted it. After finding out how fussy the BSI is, I permanently reverted to the standard unit, It worked ok, and there were no other problems.
  3. My Berlingo is a mk1 without a centre display. I could not find a way of controlling an aftermarket radio sensibly from the ignition key so gave up and returned the original radio/cassette. BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO CONNECT THE BSI DATA PINS 1 AND 2 (black/white and red/white)TO ANY POWER OR EARTH, OR ANYTHING OTHER THAN A CITROEN BSI FUNCTION BECAUSE YOU CAN BLOW THE BSI, VERY EXPENSIVE! Check these pins on your Sony (Sony are also a law unto themselves). see the thread titled "Stereo Doesn't Switch Its Self Off!,". Its here http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...view=getnewpost Read the whole string from the start. Bobdisk
  4. I could not find a way of controlling an aftermarket radio sensibly from the ignition key so gave up and returned the original radio/cassette. That works ok but even that has one quirk! its a Citroen!! Turn the key to position 1, and the radio will come on, if it was on last time you switched the ignition off. Carry on to the starting position, and sometimes the radio goes off or sometimes the radio stays on when the starter is turning over. Its all down to the BSI !!!! By the way, Custardavenger, and anyone else, BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO CONNECT PINS 1 AND 2 (black/white and red/white)TO ANY POWER OR EARTH, YOU CAN BLOW THE BSI, VERY EXPENSIVE! Custardavenger: check these pins on your Sony (Sony are also a law unto themselves), and for odd on/off, read my previous post Bobdisk
  5. Hi Anyone know if the BLAUPUNKT IDC-A09, 5CD CHANGER will work with the standard Philips cassette/radio in a 2001 Berlingo (old style) It has a vacant socket for a cd changer, but I dont know which one. Bobdisk
  6. Hi, Found out why! I checked the cars wiring, and compared it to the handbook. It is different. I think it is because the handbook is not the right one for this car. My car is a 1.6 petrol, 2001, but the book does not show the 1.6, it shows the 1.1, 1.4 and 1.8 petrol, and early diesels, so the connections shown are for standard ISO which is before my car. My car has the permanent 12v going to pin 7, and the accessory 12v going to pin 4. The connections shown with the Blaupunkt and the Citroen handbook is permanent 12v to pin 4, and accessory 12v to pin 7. So I removed pins 1 & 2, the BSI data lines, insulated and tied them back and swapped pins 4 & 7 , hey presto, it works !! It is a bit fiddly but with careful manipulation with a safety pin in opposite the wire you can remove the pins from the plug without damage, and fit them back in the new places. First remove a yellow locking bar from the side of the plug, it looks like a tiny yellow blob of paint. At first I thought that there may be an adaptor to match them, but when I started looking, I could not find an exact match, and they all started around £14 for 2 cheap looking plugs and 8 short bits of wire! (Halfr---ds!), one type was £30 because it was for a Sony. Robbers !! Switching on and off is still a bit odd, due to the way the accessory position in the car goes on and off! With the radio on, remove key, after 30 seconds or when you lock the car, plus Blaupunkt off timer setting (see previous post), it goes off. When you unlock the car and open the drivers door (no other door), the radio comes on!! This is because the accessory positon is controlled by the BSI current sensing, as well as the key, and goes off 30 seconds after the key is removed, if something is still active. The BSI senses a current requirement when the drivers door is opened, because as the radio is still set to on, and switches the accessory on. Switch the radio off before you remove the key, the BSI senses no current requirement when you remove the key, the accessory supply goes straight off, and all is normal. I wondered why the BSI data went to the radio, it must be to make the radio switching go with the key. Did you know that if the ignition is left on without the engine running, it goes off after 5 minutes? bobdisk
  7. If its the bit I think it is, you get one with a new wiper blade. Try German Swedish and French. They have branches all over and all sorts of bits of good quality. they are at www.gsfcarparts.com or phone 020 8917 3801 for mail order. bobdisk
  8. Hi, I have only had the Berlingo (its a 2001 Multispace 1.6 petrol) for 3 months. Excellent car! :P When I first got it the airbag light was flashing and some segments of the clock and odometer flash in time with it and the clocks dot. The airbag light cleared when I set the clock to the correct time, but the display segments continue to flash, odd! The service spanner has now come on at 6000 miles to go  !! Any one got any ideas ?? Also see my answer to "Stereo Doesn't Switch Its Self Off!,, when i take the keys out!!!! in the ICE section.
  9. Hi, I checked the connections to both plugs with both instruction books before connecting, but now I will look at the plugs themselves to see if there are any extra wires not mentioned in the Berlingos handbook. If there is, they may be the BSI wires. Let you know later. By the way, I removed the Blaupunkt and put back the original Citroen/Philips as soon as I realised all was not well. The car functions as normal, so I have not done any harm. Bytheway2, I know its not directly for this thread, but it might be related. 10. Hi Be interested to know if this does work, I have my doubts. I tried to fit a Blaupunkt Hamburg radio/cd/bluetooth unit into my 2001 (old style) Berlingo, but it did a similar thing. When the ignition (from accessory or ignition position) was switched off, the radio stayed on, for 15-30 seconds (see "off timer", later) it went off, then a few seconds later, came back on, then off, then on, and continued on doing this. If I switched the radio off before switching off the ignition (from accessory or ignition position), the radio stayed off, BUT, listen carefully, and I could hear a relay in the fuse box near the OBD socket below the steering column pulsing on and off every 10-15 seconds. This radio has an "off timer" in its menu. This can be set between 15-30 seconds and so sets that initial period mentioned earlier until the radio goes off. This function cannot be disabled. I contacted Citroen, Blaupunkt and a couple of others, and got this picture. The Berlingo (and other newish cars) have a multiplexed electronic control system (the BSI in the Berlingo). This radio, and other similar radios that have microprocessors, are not compatible with multiplexed cars, and can clash with some of the cars electronic controls, and vice versa (one person even suggested it could trigger an airbag !!!!???? ) without a special insallation. I have yet to find out what that "special installation" is. I will post an answer when I get it. Regards, Bobdisk ps, I work with electronics for a living!!
  11. Hi. There are 2 ways to get your radio code. I recently bought a Berlingo, with no radio code. The first is to go to the Citroen dealer who origianally supplied the car new, they usually keep all details. But if, as in my case, the dealer no longer exists, or does not have details, the second way is any Citroen dealer will be able to get all the cars details, including the radio code, from Citroen. Unfortunately, it will cost! I paid £17, inc VAT, this week for mine. The radio code crackers I have come accross on the internet have not been reliable. regards, Bobdisk
