Hi All Just a quick question for now. My C5 I think blew its turbo today, it's a 2.0HDI 138, and wondered if it is a difficult job to replace and how long it might take me. Thanks Rob

I am getting an error telling me my parking assistance is not working properly. If I hook it up to a lexia will it tell me which of the sensors is defective? Also, i have a number of spare sensors. Is there a way of telling if they are working, eg measuring resistance or something across the contacts. Thanks Rob

I need to get a new set of vented discs for my C5 and have had a look on the eurocarparts site and they list two brands - Pagid and Eicher - neither of which I have heard of. Anybody know whether these are any good or if not, suggest where i can get some discs at a good price. Thanks Rob

Hi Am fitting a towbar on my C5 and the heat shield above the rear exhaust box is just floating around as all the fixings have corroded. Do I actually need to have this above the rear box. I wouldn't have thought it gets hot and I can't see what it would protect anyway if it did. Thanks Rob

Aircon Blows Hot And Cold On Different Sides..!
citrophile replied to citrophile's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
Finally got round to investigating this one a bit more after being away for a number of weeks. Removed glove box to get access to the flap motors. Pretty easy really. Took out the motor which controls the air flow into the passenger side and discovered that the plastic bit which connects the motor to the flap looks lik eit has sheared off and dropped into the unit so the flap is no longer controlled. Just my luck it stuck on hot in this weather! Now I have a real problem. Am i right in thinking you can't get at any of the internal flappy bits without removing the whole unit, which i believe means removing the sterring and then the dashboard etc? Is this easy to do? I reckon I could do it in 2 days over a weekend or am i being optimistic? I have a donor car with aircon so I'm thinking i could take the unit from that, or should i just change the broken bit? Finally, seems such a faff for one broken bit - any thoughts about whether i could cut a section out of the plastic side off the unit to get at the internals and change the flap. Not sure if the bits would be accessible though. Might save taking the whole dash out and I have a spare unit i could get the bits out of. Thanks Rob -
Aircon Blows Hot And Cold On Different Sides..!
citrophile replied to citrophile's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
Thanks guys. Seems the flap motor thing is quite a common issue so will have a dig around on the weekend. One forum also suggested a system re-boot as sometimes the software gets in a bit of a muddle and just needs to reset itself so will try that first. Any thoughts about whether a lexia session will be able to pinpoint the problem? Thanks Rob -
Aircon Blows Hot And Cold On Different Sides..!

Hi All I have been having a problem with the dual aircon. When I set it to be the same temperature, it works great on the driver side, nice and cool when asked for, but on the passenger side it blows hot air! I'm wondering if it is perhaps a temperature sensor or maybe a control which decides if it is hot or cold air diverted into the cabin on the passenger side (if there is such a thing!) I could take it to the dealer but i'm sure they'd tut and say it needs this and that at a cost that makes space travel seem reasonably priced. Any thoughts? Cheers Rob -
How Do I Open The Boot With Remote Plip?
citrophile replied to citrophile's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
Thanks Dave....Guess it was just a glitch then when it opened on its own! Just a further thought......would it be possible to wire up the boot lock to a switch to release it from inside the car? Thanks Rob -
How Do I Open The Boot With Remote Plip?
citrophile posted a topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
Hi All Just read in my owners manual that C5 boot can be opend with the key remote. How do i do this - the manual doesn't tell me. It's happened once or twice previously by accident and I just thought it was a glitch in the remote but seems not. Thanks Rob -
You're right Paul, it's the 2005 Exclusive, the VTR is a non-runner at the moment due to a failed suspension pump (will revisit that issue another time!). Anyhow, took out the air cleaner etc over the weekend to get at the clutch slave cylinder and mechanism and it seems fine as it travels as much as it can in the bell housing aperture. It seems to me that it doesn't fully disengage so maybe the pressure plate is not releasing completely either. I've heard that they have some sort of built in automatic adjustment mechanism within the pressure plate itself so wonder if that has failed. Rob

Hi All Am just wondering if the following symptoms suggest that the DMF on my 2.0HDI 138 has gone south.... 1. When idling there is a metallic rumbling/drumming noise from the back of the engine bay which doesn't seem to affect the idling of the engine 2. When I dip the clutch the engine revs falter slightly and there is a noise which in previous cars was related to a dodgy release bearing 3. When I select any gear I get a horrendous whirring noise (and it's difficult to engage the gears) and the engine speed drops off to the point of almost stalling 4. Significant vibration on take up when first pulling away (nightmare in stop start traffic!) 5. Lumpy engine vibration when switching off 6. Heavy clutch pedal. 7. It was a bit noisy before but has got considerably worse in the past few hundred miles (fine on motorways but difficult to drive around town) 8. I'm not getting any clutch slip but it almost feels like the clutch isn't disengaging from the engine completely Cheers Rob

Fortunately i have a donor car which was mechanically spot on so i am using it for changing the various bits.

Hi All I am getting an anti-pollution warning and the engine is running quite rough (in the old days when cars had points etc it would have been called a misfire!) and now today I am getting no power at all and it struggles to go uphill. Looking at posts on here there are suggestions for lots of things and I have changed the EGR valve which made no differecnce and now need to try something else. Coult it be the swirl valve or vacuum system. If so, where do i find these on the 2.0 HDI? I have a Haynes but I am not finding it that useful. Thanks Rob

Thanks. Will take a look on ebay.

Thanks Guys I agree that the ride might suffer and I would only want to fit wheels which the car could have had when new, so guess that leaves me with the 16s.
-
Does anyone know if the C5 (2005 vintage) had an option for larger wheels/tyres. Mine have 16" but I'm going to need a full set of new tyres soon and just thinking about whether 17"/18" ones were available as optional when new. There seems to be plenty of room under the wheel arches.

Hi Mlkey Would you mind letting me know where you obtained your Lexia kit from? You seem to have got yours to work fine with the C5 and I have 2 of them and don't want to have to pay dealer rates for doing some simple stuff. Thanks Rob

Thanks Guys. I think I now feel confident enough to at least give it a go myself. I'll let you know I get on. Thanks Rob

Hi All My 2005 C5 VTR has xenon lights, but my passenger light has turned a shade of orange this week and I wondered whether it was the actual bulb itself, the ballast or something else. I want to get the diagnosis right before I spend any money. I've also looked at my C5 manual and it says you have to take the front bumper off to remove the headlight unit and then change the bulb which just seems such a faff. I also saw a suggestion online that it is possible to change the xenon bulb without taking the bumper off. Who do I believe? The other part of my question is around replacemnt xenon bulbs. Do I have to get them from Citroen (I'm told at £100 each) or can I buy them online for around £25 which seems more reasonable to me. Finally, if I do change them myself do the lights have to be reset and calibrated, presumably by someone who knows what they are doing and has the equipment. Thanks everyone. Rob
