On a similar vein. My xantia has started sinking at the rear with a whistling sound when I stop the engine. Can anybody tell me where the "anti sink valve/device" is?

Yep, I've done it to replace dash bulbs, terrible design isn't it, having to remove all that just to change a bulb.

I have a similar problem, only mine is intermittent. When I start the engine the heater blower doesn't always start. If I stop the engine and restart a few times it usually then starts working. Is this likely to be the same thing.

Glad I've found this forum. I've got exactly the same thing and my local garage had no idea what I was talking about, and as it only appears occasionally, I couldn't show them. Like Lawman, it's not shown in the handbook.

I f your still around GEO it is the indicator stalk/switch. I had the same problem, fitted one from a scrapper, working fine now. It is the centre spring loaded contact in the indicator switch which when worn half connects with the contact.
