  1. Have you replaced the pollen filter? If it hasn't been changed recently it ceases to work and lets in all smells including the engine. It's situated in it's own holder just below your windscreen. As the exhaust goes to the rear of the car it would be unlikely to be a source unless the manifold coming out of the engine is leaking. It could explain why you only smell it whilst stationary as on the move the fumes would blow under the car. A good sign of this is a slightly rasping engine sound when you accelerate. If you do get this noise then take it to Kwik Fit as they do free exhaust checks.
  2. Hello All, Does anyone have a better diagram than the Haines manual of the steering column. Have traced all my faults to a circuit board being badly soldered and doesn't seem to be wired as per Haines manual but wired for fog lamps which i haven't got connected (different left hand stalk). Don't know if anyone else has had this problem but I noticed if you adjust the steering wheel down and forward you can pull the rather short wires behind the steering wheel which connect the two stalks, horn and audio controls to the circuit boards. Looking at some peoples trouble with lights, steering locking up etc. I suggest you have a look in here as the steering column controls a lot of systems in the car including the ignition. Thanks. Mark
  3. In the Glove compartment, on the left. Pull off the plastic cover and the port is above the line of fuses (I've only got one fuse in my line though). I know this as this is where I saw the Citroen guys plug in on my car.
  4. I've cleaned them and caption has now cleared. Thank you for your help in this matter,
  5. Hello C3 users, I have a 2007 C3 1.4 HDi Cool which has the above problem. Switch on ignition and ABS lamp goes out. Start engine and after 3-4 seconds the ABS caption comes on with the centre console bleeping twice followed by the warning 'ABS faulty'. Thought it was the brakes being worn so changed front brake pads and discs and replaced brake fluid. Car has done about 33000 miles and has not had brakes changed before. This has made no difference to the state of the caption and there appears to be no problem with the brakes when driving. Does this need to go to a Citroen garage or can it be sorted by any garage? Is it safe to drive with the ABS caption on? I do not have enough money to pay for Citroen prices at the moment as was recently made redundant.
  6. Seems I'm not the only one who has had problems since the ECU upgrade. My problem is if I turn the stalk off quickly the lights stay on (ok if I turn them off very slowly). Indicating to turn left sometimes sets the horn or the rear wash wipe off and I've had the faulty sidelamp warning which disappears after about 3 miles driving. I've noticed electrics stay on even when ignition key is removed. I wonder if we could all gang together and put a complaint in for yet another ECU upgrade but with a software engineer who can finally iron out all the bugs once and for all!!!!!!
  7. I too suffer with this problem even after garage replaced the whole motor and said it was an earthing fault. It seems more prominent if I zero the speedo or touch the wiper stalk before I put the ignition on. I've also had my front wipers go vertical after I leave the car and the radio coming on by itself with the ignition key out. It seems the car is storing an electrical charge even with the ignition off and the only way it can earth is through the wiper motor pump. I've written to Citroen as a concerned electrician as if a car is keeping its charge then a risk of an engine catching fire is greatly increased but have yet to have a reply on this dangerous situation.
  8. Fuses are all ok but don't know about relays. Car had multiple failures last night on a straight road at @40mph 1. Rear wash wipe activated 2. A/C light came on but fan switch was at '0' 3. Power steering packed up and went into really haeavy steering mode. 16 hours later power steering still hasn't reset as Garage quaoted to me on phone. I like my car as its economical but it's getting too dangerous to drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. I hadn't thought about that but a large electrical surge from another system could rupture the fuses. Will take every fuse out and test with multimeter to see if I've got more than one fuse gone.
  10. I have a 2007 1.4HDi Cool model which up until today the Air Conditioning worked fine. As the weather was hot today I selected the AC switch on my manual AC system, the AC green light illuminated but nothing happened to the temperature. I then pulled over and opened the bonnet. My friend selected AC with the engine running but I could not hear the condenser clutch engaging(Bottom of fan belt on Drivers side). The electrical cables to the condenser looked ok and I can't see any fractures to the coolant Air Con pipes. I also noticed the AC light comes on in the off position which it has never done before. All the switches alongside the AC switch work ok so I don't think it's a faulty switch. It sounds like the Air Con fuse as blown as even with a broken condenser the internal relay would still click even if the clutch was broken. There is only one fuse in the car (thats ok when checked with a multimeter)and I can find the main fuse box by the Battery. I have no Haynes Manual only the owners manual. Any idea which fuse would it be as there is nothing in the ownwers Manual and I'm reluctant to take it to a Garage if its a simple thing as a blown fuse?
  11. The software upgrade was a recall and Garage say it has nothing to with problem.
  12. I have a 2007 1.4HDi and since taking it in for the software upgrade has had this problem. Without touching the wiper stalk the rear wash wipe starts its cycle. It has happened on the following occasions:- 1. Switching ignition on 2. Zeroing dashboard mileage counter 3. Overtaking a car and accelerating (the cycle can go 2 to 3 times when I do this) 4. Braking to slow down to a 30 zone 5. Indicating and turning right left. 6. Applying brake and clutch together in an emergency stop. Garage has changed rear wiper motor but its still doing it. I have had other weird faults as well such as front wipers going vertical when leaving car, Radio staying on with ignition off and also manual air conditioning light and the steering going very stiff if I do a sharp right or left turn. I'm convinced the ECU module is faulty but the garage say they can't detect any faults on it. Any ideas would be of help thanks.
  13. I have a 07 1.4 HDI. I took a corner on a roundabout very quickly the other day during a hectic rush hour but when I straightened the car up the steering became very heavy at all speeds. Phoned dealer and they said it does this when it goes into "wheel spin mode" as the steering uses a variable electric motor and is not hydraulically assisted as in other cars I've had in the past . I left car to cool down and 6 hours later steering was back to normal. I took it to dealer and they said it was now ok. However, I now have a grinding sound when I'm moving slowly but this is ok at normal speeds. Has anybody else had their car go into this mode and should I take the car in for the grinding noise?
  14. I see in Citroen accessories that for C3's they can fit a USB box for using your ipod through the system already fitted. Only problem is its a garage fit and it costs £205.00!!!!! See e-mail address below, http://dws.keycast.com/DWS/CF/Templates/ap...05&aid=1417
  15. Has anyone had this problem recently. I have a 2007 1.4 HDi which has a peculiar wiper problem. After I switched off me wipers they park normally and I switch the engine off. However, when I go back to the car a few hours later the wipers are fully up on the windscreen. This has happened several times now. Is this a common electrical problem?
  16. I've seen it on the internet in french and that's it. I've noticed that people are selling the english versions of the manual on EBAY though.
  17. Hi, I've checked my 2007 1.4HDi and mine flashes continuously too. Just checked the handbook and it says it flashes as a deterrent to anyone trying to break in to the car.
  18. I've used both confused.com and Moneysupermarket.com that both quoted RAC as one of the cheaper Car insurers for a C3 Diesel as long as you don't want protected no claims bonus or a courtesy car ( Avoid Churchill and Directline-despite all the adverts they turned out to be very expensive). What surprised me with RAC is if you are already a member you get 10% discount on line and after a month they give you £50 cashback for taking Car insurance out with them. I don't know how expensive insurance is on other models but having £50 off the final bill is surely a bonus to most peoples budgets isn't it
  19. I live in a very muddy area in the country and have always fitted mudflaps myself to all cars I have bought in the past. I looked through the accessories booklet to find front and rear are £29 a pair which is a very reasonable price. However, when looking at the small print I found the garage must fit these small pieces of plastic for £55+ for front and £60+ for rear!!!!! Why is it so difficult to fit these yourself? As an Engineer I've fitted some of the most complex machinery together and looking at the location for these I could fit them all in about 30 minutes. I then found fitting of Sill Covers (glue them in) and windscreen draught excluders x4 (clip into windscreen slots) are also a garage fitment yet it took me about 10 minutes to fit these to other car marques. Has anyone actually paid these rip off prices to get parts fitted? I'll look on the internet for alternatives as it will work out cheaper in the long run
  20. Thank you for your conversions. I couldn't find the plate either. Have just picked up my new car from Citroen to find all tyres inflated to 44psi!!! The plate quotes 2.1 Bar all round for a Citroen C3 Cool. I've now got a digital Bar/PSI guage and put tyres to correct pressures
