  1. DaveHerns You have me there, what is EGS, is it some kind of electric assisted gear-change? I have to say the C5 manual gear-change is one of the smoothest I have had, better than the Mercedes which was my previous car. I expect it has a dual-mass flywheel which contributes, but again I am not sure about that. As for turbos, are all these 1.6hdi diesels equipped with them, if so I am not aware. My servicing is carried out by Marshalls Citroen of Cambridge and I stick to the manufacturers recommended intervals, are you saying that is not enough? I can honestly say that I enjoy driving the C5, we did a 60 mile journey yesterday on mixed roads with speeds up to 60 mph and finished with 60 mpg on the calculator, which I have previously checked and proved it gives figures pretty near the actual. The C5 does not have a spare wheel of course, but one of those tyre inflator kits. I must admit that I would not be too happy at having to deal with a puncture on country roads on a dark night. Mercifully punctures are pretty rare these days. Thanks for your interest.
  2. Thanks for replies, I hadn't considered battery voltage and thought it was some kind of electronic timer that controls the shut down on Ecomode. A bit strange as the battery seems fine, starts instantly on winter mornings. To DaveHerns the model is a 2010 1.6hdi Airdream, 5 speed manual. Perhaps I have been lucky, but speak as I find the car has been trouble free in 27k miles an gives me the ideal combination of comfort, performance and economy. I have had 60mpg on 130 mile round trips on duel carriageway roads, but 52 mpg is a more realistic figure in give and take motoring, I actually get better mpg than from my wife's C3 1.6hdi which considering the size of the C5 is pretty good. I like the styling too, parked next to the latest Jaguar it stands up very well. The way that Citroen have used the bold Citroen inverted V logo on the front end gives it a really distinctive look, no mistaking it for some anonymous far-eastern product. Must admit we are Citroen fans and have 2CV, Dyanes, AX, ZX and C3s, all have given pretty good satisfaction, if not entirely trouble free service.
  3. I love our C5 1.6 hdi Airdream, the most rewarding car I have had, and I have had quite a few. It has been practically faultless, gives an excellent ride, adequate performance and 50+ mpg There is one silly little thing, the Eco Mode shuts down the electrics after a mere 10 mins. We like to park somewhere nice in the countryside and listen to the radio, but I have to keep starting the engine to restore the sound. This happens for the first and subsequent shut-downs, only 10 mins before its gone. Does anyine know if it can be re-programmed?
