  1. This is the first time I've been able to access this site for months? Also seem to have lost my previous log-in? Noticed a post "What happened to the website" so guess that'll explain what happened. We have had the problem of clunking suspension with my 2004 1.6 virtually since the day we got it (may 2004). As with other owners it is more apparent when its cold or wet, and happens mainly when turning sharply. The dealer has heard it, and attempted a cure. They re-seated the front nearside spring and the problem did seem to lessen, for a while. I've had a look at the suspension myself and, apart from the ball joint, every other joint appears to be rubber so no reason why it should clunk. From personal experience I know that worn ball joints are usually signified by a clunk when going over a bump in the road so I don't think this is the culprit. Plus its unlikely to be the ball joint when a new car's still brand new. I reckon it's probably just a design flaw. Under a certain geometry and load something 'adjusts' possibly the spring. The other unusual noise we have had was a tapping from the engine at tickover. This was diagnosed as the fuel injection. I think it's the valve that bleeds excess pressure / fuel back to the tank, which would explain why it's only apparent at tickover when little fuel is being used.
