  1. Well, after all the problems plus the cam belt slap I've decided to sell the Citroén. With 11 months MOT, 5 months Tax and no rust on the body, I'm trying to get £1,200 for it. Which means I'll get a £300 profit as I've spent £900 on it (including buying it) so far. And what am I replacing it with you may ask ? Well nothing, I'm going to use busses! NO!! I'm buying a 2003 Ford Focus 1.6 Ghia-X (ALL THE OPTIONS!) for £0.00! Here's the story, I work for a taxi company, and last year they upgraded their cars to brand new Peugeot's. And the Focus was the only "old" car to stay, because it had just been through an MOT the week before. And it was only going to be kept till the MOT ran out... And it does so on Monday next week. It was going to be crushed with the scrappage scheme in favour of another new Peugeot, but I've always liked the car, and I always chose it when I was on a shift, so I said I'd buy it. Since I've been working with the company for over 8 years, and the boss knew of the money I was having to spend on the Xantia, he said I could have the Focus for free, since it needs an MOT. I've checked over it before leaving tonight and as far as I know it needs nothing done, though the MOT tester might have something else to say! Whatever it does need, it won't be near as bad as the Citroén. Well, I'm picking it up tomorrow morning at 9am! It'll clock off for the last time at 1am and the key's and V5C will be in the drawer in the office partly signed just needing my details. Ahh, I've always loved Focuses and now I'm finally getting one! Be it a 222,000 mile, 7 year old one with a few dents and scratches! Though the taxi company has serviced it every 10,000 miles and it comes with half decent tyres bolted to it (with original alloys) and a new cam belt 20,000 miles ago. Well, I'll be off now. Bye!
  2. Thought I'd get more than 0 replies... Looks like nobody likes Xantia owners.
  3. Hey! Haha, well I swore I would never buy a pre-2000 Citroén and what have I went and done last week... Bought a 1998 Xantia! Well, I bought it for £365 from the local paper with 123,000 miles on the clock, 6 months tax and 2 weeks MOT. I bought it to replace my short-lived Reno Clio (I bought it one week, sold it the next as it suddenly sprung a bad oil leak...), and it does seem to be better! Front and rear leccy windows! Air Conditioning, Soft or Firm adjustable hydraulic suspension, black leather seats that are leccy. What more do you need!? The MOT runs out Wednesday next week so I've booked it in at the local Ford garage as they're usually good with my cars. Since buying it I've... Changed the oil, changed the distributor, HT leads and fixed the bad ground for the starter motor, and replaced a tail light bulb. For this MOT the obvious things it needs is new track rod ends, as you need to turn the wheel to almost full lock to get any movement from the front wheels, and the rear wheels need looking at as after turning a corner the rear seems to be steering!? Like I'm skidding but I'm not. I think it will be about £150-200 to pass the MOT. It is the Exclusive model, which cost over 18 grand new! :D It has the 5 speed Manual (thank God) gearbox coupled with the 2.0 I4 engine, so it's not short of a bit of power when you need it! That's about it... Bye!
