  1. Hi I had a look and I think you should check the anti sink sphere and anti sink valve at the rear, they wee fitted after 1994 ish. A really good independant specialst is Pleiades 01487 831239 they specialse in the Xantia and will send you spheres at around £20 rather than the £75 plus vat from good old dealer. They are in Sawtry Cambs just off the A1. Carful when you get underneath, Xantia have killed a couple of people when they accidently moved the hiegt adjuster when working on it from underneath. Its also worth excersiseing the ride adjuster once a week by taking it throght all hieghts, it stops a saging rear end
  2. You can check if you need oil top up by raising car to full hieght on adjuster in the car then see if the float in the oil top up tank id between the marks on the glass sight, if not top up. Also if oil level ok then raise car to full hieght, turn engine off - this should lock the car at that hieght , jack the car up with whell of the ground and see if the wheek bearing is ok by garbbing the wheel top and bottom and rock it to see if there is any play, if no then ok. start looking for worn bushes etc around the the wheel area. Also see my notes on the this sight called useful info that will help to. good luck
  3. Acouple of useful items, one is that car mechanics ran a series of overhaul features on the xantia, about six weeks in total from April 2005 to Aug give them a call they sent mine no problem and were really good and covered most topics, they also recommened a specialist hydrualic garage in Sawty, cambs called Pleiades phone 01487 831239
  4. Dave the ticking noise is definately a sphere needing replacing, maybe at the front near the pump
  5. I hope this helps, I recently had a problem with the rear of the car not wanting to get up to hieght when started and was given a great tip by a specialist garrage, once a week excersise the car by going throght each hieght on the lever hieght adjuster. This has cured mine and it keeps the hieght adjuster valve or mecanism from sticking. He also reminded me not to lubricate it from under the car unless it was choked up and could not fall, they had a few injuries when peopele fiddled with the valve from under the car causing it to sink on them. I have a M reg Xantia and want to change the rear spees as the ride is bumpy, how do I de pressurise as I have heard the speres can really goe off if not un pressurised. Thanks Ian
