Fuel Filter Identification
stephenhoughton replied to stephenhoughton's topic in Technical Section - C8
Thanks John -
Hello can anyone tell me which lines are which on the fuel filter of my 2.0 hdi i have a fuel line with a green fitting connected under what looks like a bleed valve, i assume that is fuel in. there is a line connected to the top of what looks like a bleed valve, same valve as above, this connection is white, line drops down and tees off to lines dropping below the filter, then i lose them in the engine bay somewhere, i assume that is fuel to the engine. there is another line out of the top of the filter, i assume a breather back to the fuel tank. lastly there is the electrical connection. have i got those lines right, can anybody confirm which lines are in and out please. Thanks Stephen.

Hello today my wifes 2.2 hdi on a 56 plate early 2007 lost power. It just cut out. She started the engine almost immediately and got home. The car has been running on bio diesel recently and i am thinking maybe the fuel filter is getting clogged Can anybody tell me where the filter is and how i can change it so that the car runs ok Thanks in advance Stephen

Hello the injectors on my diesel 2.0 have been replaced. Lots of problems, citroen dealer said injectors needed replacing but after 3 weeks trying had not got them out. Luckily all the work was being done under warranty, so cost was not important just time. I got the car back, would you believe it, it had same problem i had taken it to the garage with. It would not run smoothly, revs would race on their own, lots of black smoke etc, always stalled when reversing. Eventually garage ( a citroen garage ) said the MAF ( air flow meter ) needed replacing, it's about £30, fitted new one and the car runs normally, seems to me like they misdiagnosed the problem, but they say they did not. Anyway my question is when the garage replaced the injectors would they have had to remap the ecu. I ask because the car runs better now than it ever has and i have had it 2.5 years now. i asked at the dealers but they would not say, would not give me any paperwork relating to the work they had done, they said since citroen were paying for the work and not me i was not entitled to details, invoices etc. So is it necessary to remap the ecu when replacing the injectors and MAF. C5 Clunking And Revs Dropping Off
stephenhoughton replied to stephenhoughton's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
To let you know the answer to the problem was the garage. The car was taken back to the garage on 27 december. The belt was checked, there was a loose mounting / strengthening bar that explained the clunking. When the car was returned, there is no clunking and the revs indicate normal, dip slightly on changing gear and do not drop off to almost nothing anymore. The garage put right what they missed during the belt change, at least they did not try to cahrge for puting it right. Thanks for all the replies Stephen -
C5 Clunking And Revs Dropping Off
stephenhoughton replied to stephenhoughton's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
hanks Paul, the car sounds and seems to run normally. The clunking is a metallic thud that seems to come from the nsf recently had tracking done, the clunking was presnt before the tracking was done. The garage guy heard the clunk, checked all around the wheel tie rod etc and could find nothing to cause the clunk. The rev issue has happened since the timing belt was changed -
Hello my wife recently had the timing belt replace don her c5 2.2 hd vtr+ the car has 100 000 miles on it Now thee is a clunking from the nsf when he revs reach 1000 rpm. when she changes gears the revs drop immediately from 2000 - 2500 to less than 500. Anybody got any ideas what the issuers are and how to put them right. The car runs but she has noticed hese differernces since the timing belt work was done

my wife's c5 sometimes does the same thing. Runs fine then just will not start. Tried with jump leads but still would not start. I disconnected the positive clamp on the battery and when i reconnected it the car started immediately. This has happened a few times since and everytime i just disconnect the positive clamp on the battery for a few seconds. Reconnect and away you go. I don't know what causes the problem but this ids the answer for my wifes c5 2.2

Hello, can anybody tell me exactly how to top up the oil in my c8 manual gearbox. i have a 2007 2.0 diesel c8.
-
Hello did you find out what this was. just in case you did not i will tell you. It's a heater in the exhaust system. When the car does a short run in cool temps you will see exhaust gas come from under the car just below the rear doors. When i first saw it i thought it was a problem. It's not it's normal. If the car is warmed up you will not see anything but on short runs in cool temps you will.

C8 Spare Wheel - Unable To Remove
stephenhoughton replied to Mike M.'s topic in Technical Section - C8
Hello Mike, what year is your C8. i had an 03 c8 and had the same problem as you. I removed the spare and because a tyre was punctured i left it at the tyre fitters for repair. That was a big mistake. I wound up the cable that holds the spare tyre. Because it was slack the cable came out of the guide runner and was trapped and cut. I had to buy a new carrier from Citroen. The problem on the earlier C8 was that if the cable was wound up slack it did foul. Later model C8 have a plastic fitting that goes inside the spare wheel. If you leave the wheel out and use the plastic fitting when winding the cable up it does not come out of the runner. If yours is stuck, there is a good chance that the cable will be damaged and you will need a new winding mechanism, i cant remember how much it cost but fitting is very straight forward. -

Hello, i recently posted about my C8. It was idling roughly, cutting out, mpg only 30 for a 2.0 hdi. I took it to the dealers, they diagnosed faulty injectors. They could not get the injectors out so they changed the engine and fitted 4 new injectors. I picked the car up at the weekend. God it's still the same, the only difference is that now it pumps out white smoke like its going out of fashion, still very rough running, still stalling. Took it back to the dealer, technician thought it was ok. Obviously we disagreed. He put the rough idle down to fact i had the air con on. He turned it off, still no change in the rough idle, engine surging. He turned the air con on and the engine stopped. I left the car with him. This has all taken 4 weeks so far, new engine, 4 new injectors and still got the same fault. Garage rang today to tell me the car is ready to collect. They found a loose wire on the turbo charger electrovalve, connected it securely and the car is supposedly now ok. i have not picked it up yet. I was told by a friend that the rough idle was caused by the exhaust gas recycle valve. Is the exhaust gas recycle valve ( egr ) another name for turbo charger electrovalve or are they different I might have had a new engine and 4 new injectors fitted when all it needed was a loose wire connecting properly. Garage had the car for a week, tested everything, found nothing, i picked it up on Friday last week. On Monday the car had to be recovered to the garage. Engine revving itself, tons of black smoke this time. Using the accelerator pedal made no difference to the engine, it was running itself. Stopped the car started the engine again, still surging on its own, accelerator again did nothing, tried to drive off, lift clutch, engine stalled. Started engine again, loads of black smoke, revving up to 2000 then stalled. The garage are now certain it's the egr valve as when disconnected the engine is ok in their workshop. Change the valve i said, garage reckon the valve is ok, it's now something telling the valve to open / close etc. Every time i have taken the car to the garage they have connected it to their diagnostic box and according to them they have found no faults, unbelievable I told them that i wanted a printout of the diagnostic test showing no faults on any components before i was prepared to pick the car up. They have had it 3 days so far and are 'still working on it' Help

Hello my 2.0 hdi c8 has a rough idle problem I took it to citroen garage as i bought it under the citroen approved scheme. It is a 2007 model The garage did a test and said it runs rough, ok thats why i brought it in so at least we both agree on that Citroen wanted a compression test The garage then wanted to remove the injectors to do a compression test The injectors will not come out. The garage is taking the engine out to try and remove the injectors. If the injectors will not come out, we may be looking at a new engine. This will be if citroen agree The garage will be trying to get the injectors out until Friday 30/9, then they will contact citroen, not buy phone but using a standsrd form detailing the problems and sending it vis e-mail Citroen will respond - sometime The garage is not allowed to ring citroen direct. All this could take up to 1 month for citroen to approve, then god knows how long to source and fir a new engine. So i will be without a car for about 6-8 weeks, the citroen dealer i have taken the car to doe snot have a car that i can use, while the work is being not done or done. Does anybody have any idea how to get injectors out of the engine Stephen To complete the story. None of the 4 injectors would come out. After 17 days trying ( they had the car for 17 days ) the garage gave up. I kept pestering them and asked for Citroen uk number. The local citroen garage were blaming citroen uk for the delay saying they were being told to keep trying to remove the injectors. After contacting citroen uk and complaining, they told me that they would contact the garage and get things moving. The next day the local garage rang me before 09:00 to tell me that a new engine would be fitted to my car. Citroen uk rang at 10:30 to tell me that i would be given a courtesy car, mpv size, free of charge for the duration of the work. I am very happy with the way my problem has been resolved. Just glad i bought the car under the Citroen approved scheme.

C8 Child Lock On Sliding Rear Doors
stephenhoughton replied to anomolouswizard's topic in Technical Section - C8
Hello i had this issue on my last C8, that was an 03 exclusive. On the drivers door there are the buttons for all the 4 front windows. Next to the buttons there is another button, it is supposed to be the window lock button for the rear doors. My rear doors would only open on the button on the pillar if the window button was up, windows not locked, and the button above the rear view mirror was not selected for automatic locking It does not mention of that in the handbook. I now have an 07 car and the buttons on the pillars work every time. It makes no sense does it. Stephen
