Quite correct to be cautious! I know from my own car & from another forum that this pipe can be very fragile. If it does crack while removing it, it will need replacing all the way back to the pump. Didn't do it myself as I no longer have the time or space to work on my own car but it just cost me 2 hours from my local specialist to replace the pipe. :(
