Apologies, this may be a longish post! To start with, I have a 2005 Hdi Estate with 62,000 miles on the clock which I have owned from new, and has a full service history (last serviced in July this year). After my trip to France during the summer, the started to suffer from the occaisional hiccup. The revs would die, then instantly pick up again. No faults or warnings were present when hooked up to diagnostic machine at the garage. It could do this in any rev range without warning. Finally, in October, the engine srted to hiccup, and then died completely. again no warnings or faults shown at the time. After 5 minutes, the car strted fine, and I was able to drive home normally. Put that down to a one-off. Then 2 weeks later, the same happened (this time at 70mph on the A1M). Coasted onto the hardsholuder, turned off the ignition, waited 5 mins, started up again and carried on. This time, I took the car into my local independant Citroen garage (Chevronics in Hitchin - excellent people and service) and they plugged it into the diagnostics again. Still no faults or warnings reported. Drive away. When it happened again a couple of days later, a fault did briefly appear on the screen in the car. Back to the garage, and it reported a fault in the anti-pollution system. Not very clear, so a decision was made to replace the diesel Particulate filter which may be blocked (and generally needs replacng between 60K and 90K depending on driving conditions). The eloys had been topped up at the service. Waited 5 days for the filter to arrive, during which time the car became almost un-driveable (cut out 3 times within 45 minutes on a trip on the M20). Filter was fitted early November and, hey-presto, problem solved. Car drove like new, no more cutting out. OR SO I THOUGHT. Driving to Watford on Monday, car cuts out pulling away from a roundabout. Driving to work on Friday, car cuts out at speed on the A1M. Has anyone got any ideas? The garage can't find any faults, and none are reported during a diagnostic check. At a loss as to where to begin. The car has been good to me up to now, and although I was hoping to replace it, I wasn't planning to until late summer next year. All ideas appreciated. carl

I don't know where you are based, but try Chevronics in Arlesey (Herts/Beds border). They really know their Citroens (and Pugs and Fiats), and specialize in restoring old Citroens. Both my 2005 C5 estate, and wifes 2002 Saxo are serviced by them, and I can't recommend them highly enough. Any servicing done by them will NOT affect your warranty, and they are a good bit cheaper than a Citroen dealer. Here is their web address: http://www.chevronics.co.uk/Pages/001Chevronics/company.html Its just a shame I have to deal with the muppets at my local dealer for warranty work!

Quick update. Dealer said this was a 'sticky' EGR valve. It was cured by a full ECU software update. Don't quite know how a software update would solve a 'sticky' valve (perhaps WD40, or a hammer!), but as I know very little about engines I can't comment. Car runs OK so shouldn't worry too much about it. Carl

Hi all I have a 2005 2.0hdi C5 estate with just under 21,000 miles on the clock purchased new in April 2005. Whilst in France in July, the above message came up. I put it down to the heat and dust in the car park where the car was (outside temp reading 45degrees C!). Car was taken to a Citroen dealer, who plugged in their computer, and 30 seconds later declared it was a computer fault, and it was safe to go on. Had no further problems. Yesterday, I noticed a slight 'hesitation' under acceleration, and whist cruising. Today, this was a lot more noticable, and 5 minutes into my trip, the same message appeared, along with the 'hiccup' getting worse (car didn't go into limp home mode, should it?). Went to my local dealer who can't do anything until monday morning as no service department on a sunday (I guess cars don't break down on Sundays!). My question is: Does anyone know what causes this problem (don't want to get fobbed off by my dealer)? I looked at some earlier posts that mention a valve, but there isn't much detail. Can anyone help? Unfortunately I know have to 'camp-out' in the front of my dealer at 7:30am tomorrow so that I can be seen straight away :( Any help appreciated Carl

Tried again last night, and the pocket came out easily. Just required a bit more force when pulling. It is only the metal springs that hold it in, and with one already missing, it was quite straightforward. Putting the sping back in place, and re-fitting the pocket was just as strightforward.

Thanks Eddie. But how do you actually remove the pocket. I have tried (carefully) to pull it out, but haven't managed it. Is it just a case of being a bit more heavy handed, or are there any clips? Thanks again Carl

Hi all The folding door pocket on the drivers side will now no longer close. On investigastion, it looks like one of the metal springs has come off its moulding, and dropped into the area the pocket folds into. Is it possible to remove the pocket without having to remove the door lining (i.e. in the same way as you would remove the ash tray)? Any help would be appreciated Thanks Carl 2005 C5 2.0Hdi VTR Estate

Sorry, forgot to mention (in case it helps) mine is the Hdi as well.

Sounds like something might be up. I have a 2005 C5 VTR Estate (from new) now with 13500 miles on the clock, all tyres look perfectly normal for this sort of mileage (can't see me replacing them before 20000 at least). Another word with those (helpful?!!) people at Citroen again?

Just a quick update. Have tried (and now purchased) a Tom Tom ONE. Works fine with the comfort screen, and no external antenna required (cheapeast of the Tom Tom's to boot).

Hi, I wonder if anyone else if having similar problems. I own a 2005 C5 VTR estate, and I borrowed my mates TomTom 300 last weekend for a trip to London. The problem is, it can't pick up any satelite signals inside the front windscreen. It works fine outside the car (although the wife didn't appreciate holding it outside the window on the M'Way), but as soon as it goes up against the windscreen, all satelite signals are 'lost'. I seem to remember looking through the handbook that there is a reference to a coating on the screen to help with heat reflection from the sun. Could this be the cause of my problems? The unit works fine in my mates Hyundai, and the Rover he had before, just doesn't want to know inside my car. Can anyone help? Carl
