  1. Pleased to read this comment about the suspension on some C4s. I was beginning to think it was just me complaining. My dealer and Citroen UK assured me that no one else was complaining about painful potholes and a banging suspension. Eventually, and after much negotiation and arguing, I have managed to have new shock absorbers fitted that do seem to have largely solved the rear suspension problems I've had. I wish I had managed to find that French C4 site.
  2. I don't suppose it's your rear suspension is it?
  3. I'm still not happy with my rear suspension as it can't cope with ruts in the road and clonks dramatically and uncomfortably far too often when travelling over moderate bumps. Citroen say it's 'normal for the model'. I find this really hard to believe but can't make any progress with dealer or Citroen UK. New shock absorbers haven't helped. I avoid taking passengers in the car as much as I can to avoid having to apologise. My C4 is a hatchback 1.4 SX but I haven't been able to find out if it's just my car , this model or others as well.
  4. I've got the same rear suspension problem on a 1.4 SX. I haven't made much headway with my local dealer and Citroen UK have been far from helpful. I'm told it's a 'normal characteristic for the model'. I can't believe that this is true. It's not possible to carry passengers without them feeling every moderate bump and the suspension bangs, noticeably and very worryingly when cornering. If I'm not the only one I'll have abtter argument. I think there is something seriously worng with this car but no-ones listening. I'm told no-one else is complaining but that seems hard to believe. I was considering pying someone like the the AA for an indpenedent road test or even talking to Watchdog.
  5. Thanks for the replies, I'm wondering if it's a particular problem with this model of car (maybe the alloy wheels on the 1.4 SX can't cope) and if mine's a particularly bad example. It couldn't be that some models have a more substantial suspension could it? I had new shock absorbers fitted for a continual groaning noise (not from the bumped-about rear passengers) but this hasn't improved the ride. The rear is definitely 'flat' and the passenger side rear seems to bang particularly over unavoidable ruts and bumps. Cornerning and hitting a bump is very unpleasant. The car has been test driven by the local dealer and they and Citroen UK maintain that the 'peformance is characteristic of the model range'. I find this really hard to believe and have now found some commments about the suspension in some road tests. I'm thinking of getting some sort of independent road test or assessment to prove it's not just me. I think I'll just have to get rid of it, which is a shame because otherwise it's been a reasonable car (although the rear brakes do squeal when reversing - I must get that fixed next time its in the garage and they're looking at the suspension again).
  6. Is anyone experiencing problems with their C4 rear suspension performance? I have a 1.4 SX and the ride is extremey harsh and noisy over bumps, especially at low speed. Passengers in the back find the ride very uncomfortable. Citroen UK have been of little help so far.
