Yeah, got it, it was fine, stated for Citroens only and specific requirements, also stated it could mike with any other current fluid. However, After raising and lowering the car a bit, i noticed the fluid had gone down. I raised the car, no leak. i put it normal, no leak, i dropped it to the lowest and the rear part where the spheres is located wept a bit of fluid. So, trip to the garage i think, may just be something needs tightening asi think its maximum pressure at that height?

Yeah, shed loads of fluid came out of that bottom plug, and a load more when the bleeds were openedtook a good 8 litres to fil back up so i guess theres not much back there. used the advanced stuff to, last 5 years, i can change it after 3-4. Took all of 5 minutes unlike the oil change on my bros polo which took 2 hours today :)

Good old bitorrent got me the manual :) Yep, its the lhm fluid... seems the level is very low so thats getting topped up right now, hopefully there's not a leak, dont think the missus could cope with anoher bunch of expense after my over picky other maintenance i have done/plan the first two weeks of ownership! TOTAL LHM not available, but halford s do an exact replica - i take it the spec is ok? Also, being a sunday, its the only place open and i gotta go to work - Haynes top up using TOTAL anyway, which isnt citroen. GS&F not open, they do morris LHM+1 and Total

Haynes manual says once the coolant has stopped dripping from the coolant drain outlet, undo the cylinder block drain plug. What cylinder? The engine cylinders?? It has no pic and I only know where the oil sump plug is.

Ok, well its due a coolant change and the pads really need changing as braking distance is terrible. I bought the pads today so I'll get them done tomorrow and check the LHM levels, thanks I heard somewhere about this twisting motion for the brakes, I'll do a search for a haynes manual, cos although i have changed other cars brake pads, i like to know before hand what to do. Thanks for the help

I'd go to a diesel specialist anyway, dont tell them what to do just give them your symptoms, and they can do their own investigation. They will find what the problem is, fix it and then guarantee the work. job done.

I get the STOP warning light come on with the ((!)) symbol when i first start up the car. It used to go away after a few minutes of driving as per the manual but every now and then it comes on, flickering, going off and on, a bit like if you were low on engine oil and you go around a roundabout. Is this anything to be concerned about? The power steering works fine, the brakes work (all be it a little bit ***oops***, but down to pads i reckon) and the ride is smooth and not bouncy. The light always comes on if you raise the car. I tend to just drop it a few cm and the light goes out when driving. I have no history of the spheres being doen. its on my list but the ride is fine.

£40 gets me about 37 and a bit litres of fuel So, 312 out of 60 litres your doing is about 24mpg! Diesels can go that low on choke and when cold for the first couple of miles but not all the time! gotta be timing or too much fuel being pumped in... hows you lambda sensor? cleaned it with Boost10k?

Ah nice one! One less thing to worry about at the moment! What about the backup shere, worth doing as a backup safety precaution?

Most car valet products can be purchased from most motor stores and supermarkets. put the elbow grease in yourself, you can make it look good as new. Just take it in stages and remember to do each stage thoroughly. ie. break it up into categories: Hose, wash, wax, alloys, hoover, upholstery/leather cream, dash and all trim, Glass, shampoo carpet etc. Make sure you dont forget to get a good carpet shampoo, makes all the difference, that's all the valet guys use. No special steam power required. Some oil or greasy dashboard cleaner can be used on bumpers to do the same as 'back to black' or of course some black shoe polish or black car polish. Get the fizzy foam on the seats, doors and parcel shelf (does anyone actually put parcels on them??), glass cleaner for all the windows and mirrors and a good deep wax for the bodywork, with t-cut if its not been done a while. if the laquor on your wheels is grubby, bubbled and wont clean up with a cleaner, pop down to do-it-all and get yourself some laquor remover, used on garages, chairs and the like, cover the rubber with masking tape, apply carefully and watch it all fizz away and look like new alloy! once done its up to you if you wish to reapply a coat of laquor Have fun, it makes your car a real nice to be, and requires no air freshners once you're done!!

For an example figure, I stuck £40 in mine (@ £1.07pl) , and got so far 375 miles with about 2mm until the reserve on the guage. I aim to get about 400 miles at least. So works out about 47mpg in winter Mines a manual 1.9TD, driven with haste.

My mot advisory suggests ball joint play. I can confirm this as it makes the odd rumble and donk from time to time. I dont mind it, (my galant had a REAL donky donk noise much louder) but will it fail the MOT with a worn ball joint? How much to replace?

I've not had chance to get the wheels off and take alook at the pad level, but i feel a 'rasp' vibration from the brakes when pressed lightly? Is this the way the valves operate or does it sound like new discs needed? I found disks and pads off ebay for £25 so im not too fussed either way, but im not used to the braking system on citroens and i noticed this this morning. thanks

The recommendation is every couple of years get the spheres done, but are there any better guages as to when they need replacing? (the owners club mentions a seal that can break if left too long?) I got no service history with my car, so I'm unsure if they have been done and when. the ride is great, it goes up and down swiftly as requested by the middle stick, but i dont want to hurt my car by leaving it too long Any tips appreciated, ive been quoted a nice cheap price around £100 for all 4 to be done (could require labour on top) so its not crazy money but obviously i have a list of things i want for the car to keep it top shape (transmission fluids, synthetic oils, hydrolic fluid, fuel filters etc.) to keep on top of the service schedules and hopefully get another 5 years usage out of it... Thanks
