  1. Thanks for that Coastline. Just got computer back working, did anyone else get "Live Platinum Security" malware after surfing the site yesterday? Back to the subject, I just wondered if the airbag was sensitive to static sparks or anything, so thanks for putting my mind at rest. I will have a go! Thanks, Keith
  2. Hi all Citroen drivers, I posted back in May that my C5 VTR 2.0HDi estate (03) was doing it's own thing as regards lights and wipers. Also the headlights come on when I indicate right (but not left)! After seeking the knowledge of the massed Citroen public on these forums I have decided that the problem lies with the Comms 2000 unit behind the steering wheel. I found a new unit which matches my VIN and thought I will have a go. I then read the precautions associated with removing the airbag unit and I lost my confidence. Are they on such a hair trigger or are they easy to handle? I don't fancy a tense situation like bomb disposal trying to take it out. Many thanks, Keith.
  3. Thanks for that ceefive, from my reading of the manual there is a screen "overspeed warning" which does the thing you described. The manual does not mention the screen "check control". I am very new to C5 world so I am grateful for any advice. I know that Citroens never fail to surprise you! Many Thanks, Keith.
  4. OK. Might look in to that then, thanks.
  5. Hi again, after a couple of weeks driving the car performs well but the random action of the wash/wipes is frustrating. This morning I twisted the control to do a single rear wipe and the front washer jet operated continually for nearly a minute (without wipers until I operated them). Wonder if there is anywhere in the Nottingham area that can inspect/repair without the ultimate act of going to Citroen?
  6. Thanks for that Paul. I did the auto headlight procedure as per the manual (ignition in "0" position and a long press on the stalk button. It beeps and shows "automatic headlights on" but when the operation is repeated to turn the feature off it beeps but no message is displayed. The front washers are spraying fine but thanks for your suggestion. the "check control" screen is one that is not mentioned in the manual so I wonder if that is trying to tell me something. One thing I have learned since driving a Citroen is that they never fail to surprise you!! Thanks again, Keith.
  7. Hi Everyone, after four enjoyable years of driving my first Citroen (Xsara 2.0 HDi 110hp) I have bought a C5 2.0 HDi VTR estate. Nice motor for our 2-3 trips to France per year. One thing though is that when the stalk end button is pressed to cycle through the trip computer options the rear wash jet (and sometimes the wiper as well) operates. Other times it operates when I activate the front wipers. Also the automatic headlight function cannot be switched off. There is a screen on the trip computer which reads "Check Control" but it doesn't do anything else. From my small amount of research I am guessing that it is a problem with the comms unit which is either a Delphi or Dav make. Is it possible to find out which model of comms unit is fitted without taking things apart? In other words will Citroen know what parts are fitted to which car from the chassis number? Many Thanks, Keith.
  8. Thanks for that- interesting. Earlier this year I replaced the factory cassette/radio with a standard shop-bought model. I just used the speaker connectors and left the other plugs disconnected. I presume some of these are to do with the stalk volume/ tuning controls which obviously no longer work. Could the fact that these are disconnected be interfering with the functioning of the other controls in some way?
  9. Hi everyone. We have just done 2000+ miles taking a fortnights holiday to France in our '52 Xsara2.0 HDi. The car ran superbly, but one day I happened to glance at the dash and the headlight-on indicator bulb was flashing. It continued for about 5 to 10 seconds then went off. I was concerned that my headlamps may have been flashing at the same time. A few days later, the same thing happened in an underground car park and the headlamps came on and stayed on while the repeater bulb flashed. Once the flashing stopped, the headlamps went off. I have never noticed this before, and it has happened a couple of times since. Any ideas greatly appreciated thanks. Keith.
