Thanks, yes, it's not the handbrake. However, it seems to have stopped happening (fingers crossed). One possibility is that I had selected Overspeed 'on' without selecting/confirming a speed setting. As so often happens, the makers have changed the equipment in the car without altering the handbook, so I've had to use guesswork to operate the computer.

My newly acquired Xara HDI diesel emits a ten second beep from time to time for no apparent reason. None of the warning lights come on and everything appears to be normal. Can I have upset the computer somehow?
