  1. Hello, My owners handbook says and my experience agrees ----- no throttle needed on starting. Regards Peter
  2. shropshireman, My 95 1.9TD has got a Bosch pump --- on my travels on the internet I see it recorded that either Lucas or Bosch were fitted, some 1.9 owners report difficulty when trying to identify which is which --- this is peculiar because mine has the name Bosch moulded into the case on the side in full veiw. Peter
  3. Hello again all, I suppose the most critical aspect of running on a mix is the size of the usage. Me, I'm lucky in that repect. old, retired, and my nominated annual mileage for insurance purposes 4000.I make that 78 miles per week. At the moment I can manage that easily on the output from my local and it also affords me an interesting pastime solving the logistics of dealing with the mucky stuff and turning it into a golden useful commodity. In fact I may even be tempted to swich to 100%. At the moment I use a small vintage brass double action pump from the 5gall cans into a couple of yer actual sweet jars 4ltrs each, these are placed into a large saucepan which is used as a water bath to heat then settle for 7days before filtering. My filtering arrangement is simple--- I cut 5micron sock half way up and restich to make two, line each with a denim home made sock -- My collect vessels are plastic washing up bowls placed in the bottom of a black plastic bin bag, each filter is hung up above its bowl, bung the oil into the filter, carefully pull the top of the black bag so that the filter is contained in the top of the bag, tie a piece of cord round the top of the bag so that the whole lot is sealed within the bag -- bobs yer unc. no mess and no added dust, dog hairs and all other kinds of junk that is attracted to WVO. Peter
  4. Chris, Thats very interesting in my searchings on the web I've not come across another running on a mix of biodiesel and wvo. I have always thought that biodiesel functioned exactly as dino, consequently I am surprised that you have any difficulty in cold starting with such a mix. I think you could be right, it sounds to me as if your glow plugs need a look at. I'm also interested in the price you quote (75p/ltre) for biodiesel, is this homebrew?? Nice to hear from you, Peter
  5. Hello there, Have done so already, I'm on my second vegoil motor, the first was/is a Volvo 740 Estate with a non turbo WW 6cyl 2.3 engine --- to this I fitted a second water heated fuel filter and manually switchable 2 tank system ---- however an opportunity came up to buy a Xantia and on looking up its possibilities re running on single tank 50-50 mix I could'nt resist it --- I am now running it on such a mix of wvo donated from my local pub making my per litre price of fuel 54p. There is no discernable difference in starting from cold, tickover. and running. In fact it seems to run smoother and with slightly better low down torque. And you????? Peter
  6. where can I view the details of the risk you refer to??
  7. Hello all, I'm your newest newbie. I've just read a dire warning from a member regarding the probability of all the rubber and plastic parts rotting away if vegoil is used in our favourite cars. Can this be right?, if so, where can this be verified.
