  1. I sold the car, the three months of ownership made me just under £700 I was sad to see the car go as I liked it so much, but as noted before I never keep a car longer than three months. It went to a good home, chap with a C5 2.2HDI estate and a Xantia. Just bought a Volvo S60 D5, first impresions very good. The engine is a revalation, fuel consumption c 49mpg on mixed driving.....and does it go!! Anyway, just to say thanks for the information I gleened from this Forum and all the best to all of you Regards John

    Tyres

On my last car, BMW 325 coupe, I bought a set of budget tyres last Summer. At first I drove around with a grin on my face, thinking about how much money I had saved. In the Autumn, when it got a bit wet, I found myself tightning my butt muscles when cornering, the grip wasnt too good. In the Winter when it was wet and cold these tyres were lethal. When I sold the car I advised the purchaser to change the tyres ASAP So last week when I needed some front tyres for my C5 I vowed not to buy budget, I value my and possibly the lives of others more, I am not kidding when I say this, they were dangerous. On the advice of the guy in the tyre shop I bought Kumho KU31 at £130 the pair fitted. All I can say is FANTASTIC I took my son down to Southhampton (from Hinkley) yesterday in all that rain. The grip was fantastic. They are also very quiet. I found out from chatting to my son yesterday he has the same brand on his BMW 740, his opinion is the same as mine. They were fitted by BT tyres of Rugby, the balance is perfect. They told me that they could not guarantee the tyre pressure sensors would still be working after fitting the new tyres, they were I am pleased to say. Couple of weeks ago did over 500 mile in one day in the C5, my son and I both agreed we couldnt have done the journey in a more comfortable car. In the last year I have had an XJ8, CL420 and as assortment of BMW's by way of comparison. Regards all and thanks for a great Forum John
  4. Exactly the same problem with my January 2005 2.0 HDI Exclusive Estate. Great car though. Regards all John
  5. Hi, I'm sat indoors so this is from memory, and I'm a new C5 owner. On your central dash board area there are buttons you press to display maps, audio, telephone ect on your central display. One of these buttons (cant remember what its labelled) on one press dims your display and on the second press kills all the fascia/dashboard lights other than the speedo (rather like a Saab) Has this been pressed? Regards John
  6. I have phoned Lease Plan in Slough, good news. The 97910 mile service included a cam belt change, the 115211 service included a particle filter. Car running great, averaging 47mpg, windows still not correct..........any ideas. Regards John
  7. Hi all. I've just bought (earlier this week) a 2005 2.0HDI Exclusive Estate. I paid £4300 at the auctions. Its a facelifted model and has been owned by Automotive Leasing from new. (A subsidery of Citroen I believe looking at the address in Slough) It has done 118,000 miles, drives like new (superb engine) and the Hurricane Grey paintwork is in excellent order. If it had been "clocked" to say 50,000 I would believe the mileage to be genuine. As with all ex lease cars I have bought there is a full service print out. June 2005 at 19540 miles a service £160 Nov 2005 at 39248 miles a service £263 April 2006 at 57604 miles a service £178 Sept 2006 at 77950 miles a service £543 March 2007 at 97910 miles a service £357 Dec 2007 at 115211 miles a service at £1021 (includes £215 for "electrical charging sysyem) I presume that this service included the cam belt? Am I correct in assuming this? All carried out at Citroen Garages. In addition to this £1604 has been spent at various Kwik-Fits on tyres. The only other expense being June 2007 at 101300 miles £153 on the exhaust. My only expense has been fitting a near side fog light. It sailed through the MOT, no advisory issued, the inspector told me that it was in fantastic condition, I did breath a sigh of relief. He did point out that the tyres were only good for about 5 to 10 thousand miles. My only problem is with the drivers window. Put it down say five times, goes back up no problem, put it down a sixth time and it will only raise two inches, you have to raise it bit by bit. Any ideas? Hope the info is of use. Been looking at the Forum for a few weeks, was doubtfull about buying a C5, however the passion I see for the car on here led to my purchase. Did I get a good buy? Regards all John
