  1. Success! New sensor in without a hitch. No more 'risk of ice' warnings.
  2. Thanks Fridgemagnet! I bought a new sensor from eBay yesterday from 'NeatCarParts' for £9.70 with free delivery, bargain! It arrived this morning so I'm just about to go out and put it in. Is it just a case of prising off the mirror glass? I'm afraid of doing any damage as they're heated and auto dimming. Thanks Scott
  3. Back in the colder days of 2014, I noticed that the external temperature reading was slightly lower than the ambient temperature - by a couple of degrees at first. Fast forward a few months and now at the end of May it reads circa -10, and it barely crept above 0 during the mini heatwave in the middle of the month. Also, the air-conditioning won't kick in, presumably because it thinks the external air temperature is plenty low enough. I've read about the thermometer in the passenger wing mirror dying. I'd be interested to know if anyone out there thinks this is the case, and if not, what else could cause this? Any words of wisdom would be gratefully received. Many thanks Scott
  4. Update! I experienced some problems with my Lexia (corrupt software I suspect) so I've resorted to Mirascripts to reconfigure my system. It's taken a bit of experimentation but I've managed to get it all working again except for two things... A)The 'list' button on the steering wheel hub no longer works - the same button on the head unit does however. B)I no longer get location info relayed to the drivers display on the central dial. Street names etc appear on the main display but 'unmapped area' appears on the speedo, though the compass, altitude and navigation instructions all appear as they should. I'm wondering if these are lexia only configurations, in which case I'll have to try to get mine working again. Any advice would be gratefully received! Thanks Scott
  5. Thanks for your reply Paul. I will attempt to reconfigure and report back! All the best Scott
  6. I've had a bit of trouble with my RT4...any advice would be appreciated! This week my C5's RT4 system began to skip and pause when playing from the Jukebox and from CD. I performed a reset or two hoping that re-booting would cure the problem. It didn't – and eventually it started rebooting itself and performing hard drive checks until eventually a 'please insert upgrade cd' message appeared - accompanied by the usual start-up logo and car silhouette...and it wouldn't do anything else. Suspecting corruption of the hard drive, I bought an external IDE drive case so I could connect it to Disk Utility on my computer and check the drive. I wasn't provided any software disks when I bought the car either, so I took the opportunity to back-up the contents of the disk. I didn't find any errors, but verified and repaired each partition anyway. Anyway – I re-assembled the unit and plugged it back in the car, but the message asking for the upgrade cd was still there. Next, after some research, I downloaded a system upgrade file named CD_RT4-5_SW_8.31.iso (I don't know what edition I was running before because I wasn't able to check) but this seems to be the latest I could find. The update has worked (new Citroen Logo appearing) but I get a message saying that emergency calls are disabled (I don't have a sim in the car but I've never had this message before) and I'm getting no sound whatsoever through the speakers. No parking sensor beeps, no music, no speech. Also (and I'm not sure if I'm imagining it) the resolution of the display looks lower. The option in the menu for the video camera connection has also disappeared. Are these things that need to be re-activated with Lexia? Or am I missing something? Thanks for reading! Kind Regards Scott
  7. Yes I might have to consider that option as that 'elusive exclusive' with all the options ticked (that's basically what I'm after) is proving difficult to find - in my price bracket anyway! I neglected to mention that aesthetically I prefer the eagle-eye look that the active lights give the car - plus the fact that they're such a Citroënesque feature, even though other manufacturers use them now! Thanks for the info.
  8. Hi John, thanks for your reply. I thought that new shape C5's (exclusives anyway) have pop out washer jets fitted? All the ones I've been looking at appear to - so I thought that bit was covered! You may be right though...I'll have to investigate... Yes Paul I thought the same, though I understand HID lights require a faster response than the suspension's self levelling function can provide. It would make perfect sense that the sensors already installed to monitor the dynamics of the car would negate the need for levelling sensors. Hello. Thanks for taking the time to reply. By "directional" I mean the ones that actively swivel. These are always Xenons are they not? I understand that all new shape C5's have cornering lights - where an extra light comes on at the appropriate corner, but the ones with actual steerable Xenon HID lights are few and far between as it's an optional extra. I haven't noticed any of the negatives with my lights that you mention - which is why I'm so keen to get a C5 with them! But I will bear what you have said in mind and maybe test drive a C5 at night to see if I think I still need them. The search continues! Thanks again.
  9. I'm really struggling to find a (new shape) C5 Exclusive with the right combination of equipment plus the xenons I've grown so fond of on my C4. While I realise that it would be expensive to purchase the light units themselves, I wondered if anyone knows how complicated it would be to 'retro fit' them should I choose to at a later date? It's been suggested to me elsewhere that it would involve "sensors, complicated wiring and heaven knows what else" to do it. However it would seem sensible to assume that a car that is actively monitoring the height at both axels would have all the information it needed to level its headlights. The Citroen service website only seems to list headlight levelling components for non-hydractive models - even though they aren't available as an option on metal sprung cars? As for the wiring, aren't wiring looms usually set up to cope with the highest equipment levels and just not connected if the equipment isn't there? If anyone has any wisdom on this subject I'd be very grateful! Thanks for reading! Scott
