  1. Thanks all for the advice, Howard
  2. Hi, I have the same problem with my C5 and I'm about to change the drop links, just wondered if anyone noticed if the car felt like it was stepping out at the rear when cornering and going over small bumps in the road. The problem is getting worse as the rattling does, just thought they might be related. Thanks Howard
  3. It has now been three months since trying the cleaning process, as listed above and the fault hasn't returned. It's worth trying if it saves a lot of money
  4. Hi, I too had this problem so I've tried stripping the fuse box out and cleaning it, including all of the connectors. If your going to try this procedure be sure to disconnect the battery and clean it with electrical contact cleaner, NOT WD40 or anything similar! The contact cleaner will evaporate eventually but be sure it is completely dry before reconnecting the fuse box and the battery, leave it over night if needed! There's no guarantee this works but the fault hasn't re-appeared since I did it and its cheaper than a new fuse box. The warnings I had on the dash were depollution fault, eps fault and low engine oil pressure, in succession then the engine cut out. Hope this helps, I will post again if the fault comes back. Howard
  5. Thanks Paul, as always invaluable information.
  6. Hi all, I have a C5 tourer 08 2.0l hdi. Just had a fault appear which says low engine oil pressure warning and the engine stops running but does then re-start and runs ok. This is the 2nd time its happened in two days. Could this possibly be a problem with the oil pump failing. Any ideas would be welcome . Thanks Howard.
  7. Thanks Qman, that's put my mind at rest. Cheers Howard.
  8. Removed belt and it sounds the same. I might just be worrying over nothing but just want to be sure before it gets costly. Thanks
  9. If anyone can tell me if this sound is normal when the engine is cold, or does any ones sound the same. Thanks
  10. here should be the links for two videos of knocking noise when cold and when the engine is up to temp. http://youtu.be/kHn_uudG_-Q http://youtu.be/Wb65zPLoyw0
  11. Hi Parkesie, I did try to tighten the hexi nut on the clamp shown in the picture above. It only moved about 1/8 of a turn but it hasn't leaked since, I'm not convinced that it made any difference but its worth a try as you can reach it by just removing the wheel and a long ext bar. The fluid emptied out when it was frozen one night, I suspect the seals may have shrunk (like the space shuttle) :-) but i am just guessing. Cheers Howard.
  12. Cheers, I will give it a try. This is the same car that the power steering fluid leaked over night, onto my drive but it never leaked again and I couldn't find exactly where it came from. I did manage to tighten the hexi head bolt where the high/low pressure pipes go into the rack about 1/8 of a turn but I don't think it was enough to cause such a big leak. Thanks Howard
  13. Hi. Just an update on the knocking when cold problem. I've now removed and replaced the sump nut and flushed the engine. I used correct oil as suggested in the earlier post ( thanks for the info) but the problem still persists. I don't think it's an injector knock as the car runs fine cold or warm, but the knocking does appear to be getting worse when cold. Just wondering if anyone has tackled replacing the lifters before and is it a massive job. I'm not frightened to have a go but is it something I should leave for a garage. I will try to upload a video of the problem when cold and when it's warm to compare the two sounds.
  14. I am negotiating with the dealer to see if he will pay for the replacement pipes and seals, I will let you know how much they costs to supply and fit once its done. Hopefully this will solve the leak. Thanks Howard
  15. I also remember seeing the same post but not sure where. I have had the car in and it is leaking from the high and low pressure pipes as they enter the rack. As the rack has apparently been overhauled the next course of action is replacing the pipes if seals can't be found separately. This is in the hope that the faces inside the rack aren't damaged. Can u recommend the best place to buy from, would it be citroen direct? Thanks Howard
