  1. Turns out it is the bottom OS engine mount and is not unheard of that it fails causing the knocking sound not to be confused with the noise that comes from the drop links when they fail. 43,000 miles for engine mounts, thought they would last a lot longer than that.
  2. My 55 2litre HDI has developed a noise in the engine conpartment. When I come off the throttle and go on to the throttle the engine, I think, is moving on its mounts and I can hear a knocking noise from the OS side of the engine conpartment. I suspect that the engine is moving on its mount more than it should do. Also on turning the engine off, it apears to rock on its mount and I can hear the same knocking noise. I suspect it is coming from an engine mount. Has anyone else come across this? Are the mounts known to wear easily and/or is this known about. I dont want the main dealer to charge me the earth to find something that is known of (suspicious or WHAT) It has done 45,000 miles.
  3. Just for information to anyone who has the Modubox unit fitted in their car. I have discovered where the water is coming from. I removed the interior light which gave me a sight of the inside fitting of the aerial. However what has caused the water leak is not around the aerial but condensation on the inside of the metal roof as it was absolutely dripping. Not much I can do about that
  4. Thanks very much for that. How do i remove the aerial base? Do I need to remove the full width interior panel above the driver/passenger to get access to the underside of the aerial?
  5. I have a 55 HDi with Modubox and the roof lights. I have started to get water dripping down from just above the windscreen on both ends. It comes from the plastic trim that houses the interior lights. It could be coming from anywhere and collecting on the top of the trim then dripping down when I drive round a bend. Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, where does the water get in? I dont want top have to replace all the glass rubbers. My local garage would have a field day with the bill!!!
  6. I have the automatic wiper option on my 55 2.0 HDI and they go manic at times. They will either detect rain and wipe normally or can sometimes not wipe untill theres a good amount of rain on the screen. Alternatively they can go on to fast wipe for some time then stop and start. Has anyone else experienced problems with this system?
  7. I have a 55 2 litre diesel Multispace. When accelerating and coming off the throttle around town I can just detect a whining noise. I have put this down to the turbo and it was not there when I first got the vehicle a few months ago. I did ask the garage but they said the mechanic put his stethoscope on (presumably the turbo) and said there was no problem. They did, however change both idler pulleys for the alternator etc as they said they were both gone. The noise is still there however. It is also evident when I rev it at standstill out of gear. As I said it is only just detectable but I dont want a bearing or something else to go after the warranty is out. Has anyone had this or are the turbo sometimes know for problems. The engine has only done 35,000.
  8. Some low life in a car park has put a large dent in my off side rear door and I want to see if it will pop back out with a little persuasion. It is a 55 Multispace and I have managed to remove all the plastic retaining clips round the edge (must be 8 or more) but dont want to break anything. I havent removed the window rubber that also laps over the top of the door card yet. Is this all I need to do now before removing the card or are there any other retainers that are no so easy to see?
  9. As far as I am aware the manual is the same for all models. Just got a 2 litre HDi and my manual is as my previous 1.9D. Doesnt even have anything about the MPG, average MPG and all the other things on the dash readout. Doesnt give any info on the system for auto headlight switch on or the auto wiper system. Therefore, useless on some aspects. Have a look on ebay. Manuals sometimes come up on there.
  10. Just changed my 1.9D Forte 04 for a 2.0 HDI Desire 55. When I start it, the dip beam comes on even though the switch is in the off position. How do I reset it? Also the windscreen wipers appear to have a rain sensor meaning that the wipe changes from dwell to continuous slow then fast, then slow then on to dwell etc etc. Drove me nuts the first time ( and only time) I have used it. I would like to know how to disable it so I have the choice. Any ideas? The manual is pathetic on a number of things, giving no information at all.
  11. I have a 1.9D Multispace, 04, and it does exactly the same. Are you concerned because you think the idle is too high? It has never given me any problem apart from low throttle running in slow mooving traffic when I sometimes have to dip the clutch. (Sorry about the previous post, something happened when I tried to reply!!!)
  12. Yes, I was charged £30 for the component plus the cost of two nuts.
  13. The drop link connects the end of the anti roll bar to the strut. (one on each side)
  14. After much checking, finally took it to the dealer who identified it immediately as the near side drop link. Couldnt detect it myself but they knew!!! £61.06 supply and fit.
