  1. Hi, Whenever I hear that same annoying humming/whistling sound in my C4 l slowly accelerate up to about 25 mph open the door and kick her out.
  2. Hi, I am replacing it with a DS 3 165 thp ultra prestige. I was considering the Cactus but must admit that I find reversing very difficult when in tight places. Also my wife finds the C4 a bit to large to handle. I am hoping the DS 3 ,with reversing camera, and less width will be easier for us both.I haven't explained the extra hp to my wife, but felt the torque, being only 24 lbs ft or so less should mean good flexibility for a petrol engine. Any latest comments on the DS 3 165 would be of interest.
  3. Hi All, Any day now I will hand back my C4. For three years I have had absolute reliability with this car, it's never been any trouble. On the motorway it is a lovely, comfortable cruiser, eating up the miles and with the flexibility of the torque available not much work required with the manual gearbox. To give it the correct title it is a: Citroen C4 hdi 115hp 6 speed manual Exclusive. I have had 58 mpg down to 40 mpg on a mix of 1/3 motorway to 2/3 round town. When I leased the diesel I had in mind doing much more motorway driving but my condition got the better of me. This is one very under minded car, it's a family cruiser and a pleasure to drive, it may have jittery back wheels round poor surface corners but I have always felt in control of this car and always looked forward to driving it. Well done Citroen C4 I hope the next owner gets as much fun and pleasure driving it.
  4. Thanks to the replies about the turbo run down and will follow the advice, although as I previously mentioned I have not read anywhere in the manuals about this. I will also pass it on to my Son who drives a Honda diesel turbo and as he has not mentioned this to me probably doesn't know either. As the saying goes, never to old to learn.
  5. Hi All, Just read about leaving the diesel engine ticking over so that turbo can slow down before turning off the ignition. I am new to Citroens and turbos but I have not read anywhere in the manuals that came with the car about doing this. Does that also mean letting the turbo run up to speed before driving off? Sorry if I sound ignorant but I have only being driving for 50 years and in my defence ,like I noted above, I am new to diesels and turbos. Must also mention that so far my Wife and I are very pleased with our C4, so comfortable and quiet when cruising and returning about 52mpg overall but only done couple of thousand miles so far so sure that will increase with time.
  6. Hello All, New to the site, also new to leaving a topic online so please forgive me if I do not follow correct proceedure. I have just completed my first 1,000 miles in a new Citroen C4 HDi 115 Exclusive. The first time I have driven a diesel and a very uplifting experience it has been so far. I have mixed milage of about 400 miles driving around town and small country lanes, and the rest on motorways. At the moment I am getting about 48 m.p.g. in town and countryroad driving and about 64 m.p.g. on motorways. I feel that this is a good result so far, but as I say I am new to diesel engines. I did test drive several cars beforehand, Ford, Vauxhall and Kia, which were all pleasant enough and had various attributes between them, but when I first sat in the Citroen it all felt right, the build quality and comfort were a surprise and when I took it for a test drive my wife and I just felt so at ease with the car.Okay it does have it's own little quirks and gimmicks but I found the ride very acceptable. It picked up several complaints from reviewers because it did not take corners very well and felt every bump in the road, a harsh comment, I thought. It is not a Golf GTi nor a Focus ST it is a cruising car with a good turn of power when needed and I am pleased that I took time to read other non partisan reviews before choosing it. Mike.
