  1. Now you have mentioned it, I realised I have the same problem with my 2013 2.0 HDi Exclusive Auto Estate. I am in Sydney, Australia. Please let us know how you went with the dealer. Regards, Mike O.
  2. In the first and second generation C5s, the single turbo 2.2 HDi was a quieter and smoother running engine than 2.0 HDi. I had a late 2004 2.2 HDi SX Auto Estate and loved it. No experience with the twin turbo version. The 2.0 HDi in the current C5s is quieter and smoother again, except at full throttle when it can be very vocal. Regards, Mike O.

  4. The bi-Xenons were aiming too low. After adjustment, on straight roads they are good, but not spectacular. They are fantastic on really twisty mountain passes full of hairpin turns. The noise deadening stage one worked, but was not near enough. So quiet on a smooth road, still so noisy on coarse chip. Michelin Primacy HP tyres have obviously not been designed for such noisy road surfaces, nor has the rest of the car. Stage two (wheel arches) will most likely happen this Easter long weekend. I have already bought the second bulk pack of Dynamat Extreme.
  5. First stage done. I covered the floor starting at the vertical mini wall under the tailgate and finishing at the base of the vertical wall under the rear bench seat. Haven't managed to test the results on a really bad surface yet, but it is already obvious that the road noise level has dropped significantly. The noise has subjectively moved to the front of the car, as it did in my previous cars. Next stage: the wheel arches. This will balance things out a bit, but will make engine noise more noticeable. So, the third stage, engine bay, will need to happen. I am doing a 3-day country run next week, this will be a great test of stage one effectiveness. It will also enable me to test the bi-Xenon headlights on really dark roads. At the moment I think they are not as good as my previous model's halogens with +90/+100 bulbs.
  6. I'm pretty sure you have already done it, but for the benefit of others: I had a cable in my December 2004 C5 2.2HDi SX Wagon installed by my Citroen Dealer coming out in the glove box. It worked superbly with various iPhones and was controlled by the stalk. My current 2013 C5 2.0HDi Exclusive Wagon lets me connect in many ways, both with cables and Bluetooth.
  7. Problem over. The dealer has fixed it. No more echo on Bluetooth.. Car Bluetooth software update did the trick.
  8. My iPhone 5 works fine with my ancient BlueAnt ST3. We will soon see, or rather hear, if the software update promised by the dealer fixes the problem.
  9. Not yet, but if the dealer installing a towbar tomorrow doesn't fix it I will.
  10. Thanks Paul, What I meant was, that the mic is already there somewhere, I just don't know where it is. BTW, I don't think the mic is the problem. The person talking to me hears his/her own voice with a significant delay, which makes conversation difficult. I can hear them very well, they can hear me very well, but this echo of their own voice makes it difficult for them. I am sure some of the members must have struck this problem and found a solution...Fingers crossed! Mike O.
  11. I have just bought a 2013 ex-demo C5 2.0 HDi Exclusive Tourer with eMyWay, Bluetooth etc. Has anyone managed to get rid of the terrible echo the person on the other end hears? It happens every time I talk on the iPhone 5 connected via car Bluetooth. Also, where is the microphone? Any help will be most welcome. Mike O.
  12. Yes Paul, Our roads are usually covered with the dreaded coarse chip bitumen. I have always thought it was caused by the hot summers, but recently discovered, that even Sweden is going in this idiotic direction... Anyway, I have now picked up the car and love it. What a superb ride comfort on 17s pumped to a rather low pressure. 40 psi front, 35 psi rear according to my pressure meter. My son's meter showed 34 front, 28 rear. Lovely accuracy... On a smooth surface the car is quiet enough, but on a typical freeway it is far from it, so watch this space in a few weeks... Cheers, Mike O.
  13. By now you, no doubt, have discovered that it was the rear suspension arm bearings needing attention, like they did after 100,000km on my car. Cheers, Mike O.
  14. Greetings from Sydney Australia, I am in the process of trading in my 2004 2.2HDi Auto Wagon (Estate) for an Exclusive 2013 2.0HDi Auto Tourer. It will be my third C5, the first one was a 2001 2.0i Auto Wagon. My back-to-back test drives confirmed, that the 2013 car on 18s is neither noisier nor quieter than the 2004 one on 16s. Rides a bit different, but again they are at the same level comfort wise. Now,here is the catch: I have spent many hours noise deadening the inside of the 2004 car. I have covered the whole floor starting at the back of the car and finishing at the vertical wall acting as the front of the rear bench base with Dynamat Extreme. I also covered the outside of the wheel arches (under the plastic covers), a large part of the firewall (engine side) and the bonnet (under the original mat). This made the car much quieter, especially on coarse chip surfaces that abound in Australia. And this is the reason, that the 2013 car was not quieter than my 2004 one. I am getting the "new" car (6,000km on the clock) with the 17s, not the 18" wheels that normally come with the Exclusive. This will reduce the road noise a bit, also will make the car ride softer and reduce the fuel consumption. Not huge improvements, but still... I will also do the Dynamat trick - time will tell to what extent. The car will be the quietest thing on wheels this side of $100-150K. It will even beat the 2014 Subaru Outback 2.0D CVT in terms of quietness. In terms of ride comfort it will have no competition. BTW, I noise deadened the 2001 car as well - it brought huge improvement to noise levels. I hope this is of some interest. If so, I will report on my progress. Regards, Mike O
