  1. Just about sorted the problems on my brother's 2001 Xsara Picasso 1.6 petrol. Starter motor has now been replaced and found out that the engine earth lead to body was ready to fall off thanks to some wonderful experts who forgot to fasten it back on after some welding of sills! The minor problem I am now trying to sort is that when I run Lexia diagnostics it shows no faults for everything except the BSI. - Permanent fault - No communication with Air con. (this will not go away) - Intermittent fault - EOBD or engine ECU - Intermittent fault - low fuel information, short circuit to +ve - Intermittent fault - alternator The diagnostics do not show any more detail - codes fixes etc. The last three do clear but return after running the car.. All checks visual and multi-meter have failed to identify a cause. Any suggestions gratefully received!!! Mike
  2. My brother has a 2001 Xsara Picasso 1.6 petrol. Lovely car to drive but.... It is currently showing a picture of a car followed by two dots and a lollypop. Underneath it shows 17mph. It ha suddeny appeared and no amount of button pressing seems to make any difference. What is it and more important how do I get rrid of it!!!! Any ideas??? Mike
  3. Hi. My brother has a 2001 Xsara Picasso 1.6 petrol. Great car to drive but recently seems to be having electrical power problems. We believe it needs a new starter motor as occasionally it does quite catch on first turn of the key. Recently fitted a new battery to eliminate any problems from that area -- the old one was tired. I have the Lexia diagnostic which repeatedly throws up the following messages. - Interniittent fault EOBD or engine ECU - Intermittent fault Low fuel information short circuit +ve - intermittent fault Alternator - Intermittent fault Engine Speed sensor All the faults clear without any problems but frequently return for no apparent reason! Currently trying to trace the engine earth lead to check the condition of the cable and connection. Any ideas on causes would be most appreciated to keep the old girl running. Mike
  4. Filter was changed about 3-4 months ago. Now tried the Lexia again running the car around the block a few times and the diagnostics is now showing error code P0340 camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction. Can't understand this as the sensor has just been replaced and all the advice available on internet says the EML should light up which it doesn't.
  5. Having a problem with a 2002 C5 with 2.0 HDi engine. After a five week period of no use the car we finally tried the car. The battery was low so recharged the battery and tried again. This time started up without any problems until we came to a hill and found that the car seemed to lack power and was smoking a lot out of the exhaust. Checked the car using Lexia diagnostics and it reported a cam position sensor fault. We replaced that and it was OK fault cleared. Driven the car for 80 miles with no problem - just towed a Corsa back home from 25 miles away with no problems with the C5 BUT it did have a slight hesitancy occasionally - like a misfire and doesn't like 3000 revs. At the moment diagnostics isn't showing anything. Before and after the sensor swap the engine man light did NOT come on. Any ideas???? Thanks Mike
  6. Thanks for the prompt reply and the guideline prices. Your info is spot on with one exception .The outer one is 69714 and the inner 697606 BUT the Crankshaft outer pulley doesn't have a key way only a slot at the back which aligns with key which sticks out from the timing belt pulley. That's why I am confused! Isthe outer one for the timing belt pulley and inner one for the oil pump drive?
  7. Hi everyone. I have just replaced the the crankshft pulley on my brother's 2002 C5 2.0 HDI and noticed some slight damage to the key slot on the old pulley. the woodruff key on the shaft is slightly damaged. The new pulley is holding on the old key but we intend to change it on the next timing belt change BUT..... According to our Citroen database there are two keys - part nos 6976-06 and 6976-14 the latter one being the outer one. I know some C5's only use one krey????? Anybody got an idea on which one to get. I asked the local citroen parts dept who after much??? thinking suggested buying both which may the only option.
