fitted a jvc but am going back to the original as have heard it can cause problems with the ecu

I have a 54 reg xsara picasso 2.0hdi and have fitted a new radio but now evey so often im having a problem which consists of most dash lights on ,no speedo or fuel/mileage but have date and time.When i turn car off the lights stay on until the ecu turns the power off.When that happens if i restart car it says engine fault but i did disappear once when left for a while .Does anyone have any ideas.
