  1. Turning into my driveway this evening (right turn, full lock) there was an extremely heavy clumping thud as if I had hit something. I had already straightened up to progress up the drive and carried on. A quick inspection failed to show any damage. No warning lights came on when I turned the ignition back on and a short test drive did not throw up anything out of the ordinary. Any thoughts chaps?
  2. Thanks for the tip. I haven't done the job yet as I can't find my battery charger.
  3. Thanks for your reply. I'll try fully charging the battery and we"ll see if it makes a difference.
  4. I'm getting seriously browned off with the radio cutting out after about five or six minutes when the ignition is off. I do not believe for a second that the radio will seriously drain the battery. I ran my previous vehicle, a Rover 75, for ten years and I scrapped it with its original battery. The radio was sometimes played for hours at a time with the ignition off. Can anyone help me? I won't be renewing a four year old battery.
  5. Thanks for your replies John. The car was supplied as having had a service and pre-delivery inspection. I took the car back to the dealer this morning and I'm to drop it off for a couple of hours on Monday morning. Let's hope it only needs regassing.
  6. It's four years old. I ran the Rover for ten years and never had to have it regassed. Is it an expensive job?
  7. Collected a four year old C5 saloon on Monday and today was the first time I felt the need to turn on the air conditioning. The outside temperature was 17 degrees but the sun was out and it was much warmer in the cabin. Despite putting it on at its lowest setting there didn't seem to be much difference in temperature. I took the car out again later in the day when it was 15 degrees and again there wasn't any perceivable difference as I switched the A/C on and off although this time it was quite pleasant in the cabin. My previous vehicle (Rover 75) would blast out cold air, leaving no doubt that it was working. I'm not sure what my expectations should be. Can anyone advise me how to test whether it's working or not?
  8. Thanks for your replies guys. When the radio went dead as I switched off the ignition it never occurred to me to simply turn the radio back on by its own switch. Age creeping up on me I fear.
  9. Previous cars that I have owned all had a first turn position for the ignition key that enabled the radio to be used without turning on the ignition warning lights. The C5 does not have this. It goes against the grain to have the warning lights on without any intention of starting the engine. I always understood that to do this would burn out the ignition coil. Can anyone enlighten me please?
