  1. Hi Paul thank you for the time for writing a comprehensive reply. I can now carry get everything and have a go myself . I had my cam belt changed by Citroen recently and noticed there was no undertray which should make things a lot easier .
  2. Hi there I always keep an eye on this forum really interesting and it has helped me on more than one occasion, I would like to change my oil on my C5 2litre hdi mk 3 it’s a 2009 model . What oil to use and tools do I need , Ive used the stealers for a couple of oil changes but would like to have a go myself . Thanks
  3. Thanks for the reply I'm no mechanic so wasn't sure of what was involved . The service receptionist said it would take two hrs per side so what a rip off !!
  4. Forgot to mention its C5 2009 2.0 HDI thanks
  5. When's the last time the car had a service . Had mine doing that now and again then went in for full service oil change fuel filter etc it drove like a new car when I pulled away from the garage
  6. Hi car has just been into the stealers for mot and interim nothing major just one or two bulbs blown but there is an advisory on the os & ns front lower arm rear bushes . Citroen have quoted a massive 801 quid to do the job . How long would you advise on driving this vehicle before getting the job done I know it's a length of string question and what would I expect to pay from an independent ball park figure .
  7. Yes I've turned it off by mistake there's a thumb wheel on the left side that changes the display thanks
  8. Forgot to mention it's a 2009 model hdi VTR model thanks for looking
  9. Hi just wondering if anyone else had a similar problem or shed some light my mph does not show in the middle of the display the analogue still works ? It's really handy seeing it when it's working you can concentrate on the road head easier instead of looking at the old analogue .
  10. Hi thanks for the replies sorry if I'm gonna come across a little bit thick what's the procedure in disconnecting the battery and reconnecting just a bit worried about the cars computer cheers
  11. Hi I've had the car for a year now it's not my primary vehicle as I use a van for my work . What I have noticed is that I can't get rid of economy mode even after the car has been on a decent run lets say a round trip of 30 miles a mix of motorway and local . Is this a sign that the battery is on its way out just wondering if anyone could shed some light on this.
  12. Hi Paul the dealer charged me 750 inclusive for the steering rack to be reconditioned and put back on the car . I could have probably got it done a bit cheaper but I'm quite busy work wise don't have the time to shop around .
  13. I took it into Citroen to have a look . I booked it in to have a level 2 service and told them about my boot problem . There was no power to the sw or lock so they started doing continuity checks and eventually found a broke wire under the dash ? Anyway repaired the wire and all is good . The steering developed an intermittent problem sometimes quite stiff to move when parking thought it might be low in fluid so asked them to have a look . Turned out it was leaking from the steering rack seals so told them to proceed and get the steering rack reconditioned anyway a lot better now but left with quite a hefty bill .
  14. Hi I received the new lock from Citroen dealership in Nuneaton only 35 quid so that wasn't bad that's the good news so soon as I got home I was full of anticipation this would do it only took a few minutes to swop . Tried the remote fob nothing just the same result as before so back to the drawing board would the dealer be able to sort this out as the mot is due early sept so I could kill two birds with the same stone .
  15. hi Paul I bridged the switch out nothing . Checked the switch while it was disconnected and out and done a continuity test on it got a reading so I've ordered one from my local Citroen dealer £ 35 quid so I didn't think that was too bad if that doesn't work I will give it to the dealer to have a look .I've ordered a new lock

  17. I replaced the front near side with a kit not a very easy job next time one breaks I'm gonna get the one that's already made up a lot less hassle
  18. Hi Paul I will have a go at this tomorrow aft and let you know the outcome thanks again for your input
  19. Ok thanks for the reply so in laymans terms I isolate the switch in the boot check which one is earth and then bridge out the two remaining wires it should unlock the latch on the boot mechanism . There is no 12v to the lock so that explains that forgot all about the sw on the handle that's made it a bit clearer thanks
  20. Hi I've had the lock apart there's no plastic bits missing off the cogs do I buy a new one or would anyone know what voltage I should be getting at the three wire plug just to check the wiring
  21. Hi I've already tried that gonna get another boot mechanism there's one on eBay for 25 quid so that will narrow it down thing is I've just ordered a tow bar to be fitted next week and this happens oh well cest la vie
  22. Thanks for the replies I've had the car twelve months I love the way it drives it has prescence on the road and always gets admiring glances from other road users . There's nothing jammed in the slam plate it will lock but you can't open it with the button on the actual boot lid .
  23. Hi thanks for looking it's the button on the boot lid itself and its a 2009 saloon
  24. Hi I wonder if anyone could diagnose a problem that's just developed my car is a C5 2.0 Hdi 2009 . When I unlocked the car using the remote I could not open the boot after several attempts locking unlocking it still wouldn't budge. So I looked through the cars manual and it gives the emergency procedure you have to lower the rear seat and armed with a small screwdriver and torch locate a small tab within the boot lock push the screwdriver into this and turn it to the left and hey presto the boot is open . You can lock the boot via the central locking but it won't open would it be the boot mechanism at fault or is the central locking ?
  25. Hi the most obvious thing to check is have you put petrol in by mistake if not sure check your receipt I've done it myself with a Renault Laguna took it to the garage even they didn't fathom it out
