thanks folks. very helpful info.

I noticed them but didn't realise they would release the strut . Thanks again.
-
Even better! Thanks. Might have a go then.

That's really helpful thanks.

Thanks very much. Top of strut looks a bit tricky to access inside bonnet as its so far back. Presume lots needs removing to access it? Wish there was a Haynes for this car. I've got a little corsa too and rarely have to take it to the garage. Will probably just give up on this one and let garage sort if I can drive it there. And yes, I realise should be done in pairs so will get cost for that too. Thanks again.

Front suspension coil spring snapped in drive yesterday and went straight through tyre! Brand new Pirelli! Anyway, I'm not sure how to fix this. I presume the whole strut needs removing to replace the spring? Has anyone done this? I need the car back on the road ASAP so if not confident to DIY will take to garage. Not sure if I should go to local independent or main dealer for this job. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Thanks. Just found the service manual online which says exactly what you have said so I'll go with it. It also says "imperative to start engine" first. Thanks again.

Just about to bleed C8 brakes using easibleed which I've used before. Just checking sequence? Does anyone know the bleeding sequence please? Usually furthest away towards master cylinder but I just googled and found different (from front to back which is unusual to me). Also, does engine need to be running when bleeding with easibleed? (its the system that connects to the spare wheel for pressure. Ive used it before on other cars successfully). Any advice would be welcome before I start taking wheels off etc. thanks.

C8 Seatbelt Tensioner Or Airbag Fault Warning
humptyw replied to humptyw's topic in Technical Section - C8
Thanks. Been away. I'm now hoping it's the comms unit as I just paid £320 to Citroen for it. This is not £320 worth if stuff!! Auto electrician was sure this needed replacing but I also wondered about the airbag itself. Guess I'll have to wait and see now! Are these easy to fit myself? Would save £50 fitting fee but I guess I'd struggle if there were any complications. I'll get the man to do it!!! -

Getting A Part Number From Citroen
humptyw replied to humptyw's topic in Questions about Citroen the Company
I got the part number by registering with Citroen service so many thanks. It saved me ordering the wrong part! There appears to be only one on eBay and it's in Slovenia?' Anybody had any experiences of buying car parts from Eastern Europe via eBay? I'm tempted but wary!!! -
Getting A Part Number From Citroen
humptyw replied to humptyw's topic in Questions about Citroen the Company
Many thanks folks. It's the drivers airbag igniter which is part of the "stalks" part and has to be an exact part number match. I'll register with above. And thanks again. -
Does anyone know where, other than Citroen, I can get a part number? I need a part that Citroen are charging £300 for but I can get from breakers for £80 but it needs to be the exact part number.local dealer refuses to tell me the part number. I would need to take the dashboard apart to find it myself.

C8 Seatbelt Tensioner Or Airbag Fault Warning
humptyw replied to humptyw's topic in Technical Section - C8
Just an update. I took it to local auto electrical wizz who diagnosed drivers airbag igniter fault. Needs replacement unit on steering wheel known as the "stalk"? . This comprises the indicator stalks etc and sits behind he wheel, no aftermarket one made for my car and Citroen want £300 for a new one. I've waited ages for a scrapyard to find one but one has just come up on eBay that might be the one I want. Local citroen dealer won't release part numbers. Does anyone know how I can get the part number so I can make sure I'm getting the right one? Thanks. -

C8 Seatbelt Tensioner Or Airbag Fault Warning
humptyw replied to humptyw's topic in Technical Section - C8
Thanks. I really don't want to take it to the dealers for this one so I'll keep on wiggling wires and cleaning connections for a while. Most of my google research seems to lead to loose connections. I hate electrical problems!!! -
Evening all. Airbag light has come on on the dash and on startup I get the above warning and a beep. It started yesterday but warning came up only when taking right hand bends??!! I've googled this and checked connections under seats etc, disconnected and reconnected battery, pulled all seatbelts out full and kicked all the tyres really hard but still warning. I want a more specific diagnosis. Does anyone know if those plug in Bluetooth fault code finder things that require a phone app or PC could help me with this? They have good reviews and are on Amazon and fleabay for about a tenner. If I could narrow the problem to a particular airbag or airbag it would help a lot. Just not sure if diagnosis equipment needs to be more sophisticated? Dealer says diagnosis will START at £50!

Thanks

I meant DIY!!! Spell corrector is a pain!
-
Many thanks. Presume it's an easy day job?
-
Thanks for that. Must admit I'm a bit unsure about doing it myself but will get back to you when I've Sussed it out. I've not worked on the c8 at all yet apart from oil and filter changes between services but have done stuff on other cars so will read up. Is there a Haynes for the c8?

Can anyone advice cheapest way to get my knackered compressor replaced please. It's been working on and off for last year and is now making an awful noise and although I can hear it engage, it doesn't work. Main dealer confirms its had it and quoted between £450 and £ 600 for new compressor plus £ 150 labour. Can't afford this, especially just to keep cool in the summer!! But also don't want to leave it as it is. Have looked at ones being advertised on tinternet for £200. Presume it's a difficult DIY job. Any thoughts and experiences would be greatly welcomed.

is it possible that the outside temp sensor is located under the drivers side wing mirror rather than on the passengers side as stated in other posts? I replaced drivers side with an older one from the scrapper after a bump about 3 months ago but recently noticed that there is no outside temp reading on the dash. Dealer said there was no temp sensor under the passenger side wing mirror which is where it usually is. ( I replaced driver side remember). Was hoping to replace it myself but was wondering about the wiring? Does it wire into an existing slot? Does it matter which side it's fitted to? Any help on this would be much appreciated.

OK. Many thanks. Will give it a try.

OK. I got the cover off with a little bit of brute force. Just needed indicator prizing out and 2 allen screws removing followed by a careful prizing open all round bit by bit with a flat head screwdriver. As I did with the main cover. Snapped free and seems in tact. I am still struggling to know how to remove the drivers inside door panel though. Any help appreciated.
