  1. You would want to cut the original switched live feed to prevent the rest of the cars wiring being permanently on-or feed from the switched line via a diode-But as coastline taxis warns, the smoke might get let out ! What model are we talking about here,Mine's a 09 C5 Tourer 2.20hDi exc -the radio is probably turned on and off by economy mode information in the BSI canbus type data stream like a lot of other bits and bobs in the C5.An aftermarket radio could probably be wired the old fashioned way ,but you might struggle to use the steering wheel remote controls. iF anyone has managed to defeat economy mode for the radio ,electric rear tailgate and interior lights I would love to know how they did it.Mine only worked properly when I accidentaly left the car's newish battery on a crude industrial charger for 24h,it stayed up in the 13 volt plus zone for a month-even so the radio still quits after 30 mins . We need to fool the BSI that the engine is running or get a 14.5v battery !
  2. DRL replacement on a 09 C5 Tourer 2.0 HDi Exc-I did mine with a cut down cheap ebay Torx 45 key,it fits into corresponding hole in bottom centre of lamp holder.Access is improved by removing cap from rear of headlight and headlight wiring connector on left and right units ,I did not remove battery or any trim/bumper etc.Intriguingly ,there's a small removable panel on front bumper each side, which could be for somehow removing these units, but i reckon it would need a special right angle Torx 45 tool.I have fairly big wrists and stubby fingers but still managed it - did bruise and scrape my wrists . Lampholder is fitted from under headlight shell ,its not quite on the flat and undoes by turning the base 90deg anticlockwise.Inserted T45 tool helps wiggle base out of hole.Helps to locate if you try to spot the bulb looking into the headlight glass while hand dives underneath-not easy but possible .A cloth placed under Headlight catches dropped tool/light! First tried LED replacements "from Hong Kong"but not very bright and one started flickering so redid as others have done with domestic 12v 20w G4.Note these lamps pins will need bending slightly but still work . Later models 2012? on have LED strip "German car" stylee lamps so don't require this proceedure Photobucket link http://s796.photobucket.com/user/nevcco/library/C5%20Tourer%20driving%20lamp%20replacement?sort=3&page=1 Nevcco
  3. Many thanks to paul.h for link to tailgate trim removal http://www.citroen-o...working-tourer/ I needed to do this to mend snapped washer pipe ,also relevant for 3rd brake light access Here's how I got on .Car is 09 C5 mk3/x7 Tourer 2.0hdi Pulled interior top tailgate trim off by hand to avoid tool damage.usual cracking noises and shower of broken plastic trim clips-bit nearest glass has 8 push-in to hole clips,4 broke .Now 2 hidden Torx30 screws are revealed, remove these and the 2 normally visible ones which are a bit shorter. As link says protect paint with cloth, yank up the trim we are trying to remove from rear edge-there are 2 more push in to hole clips, these didnt break!I was able to now cut the corrugated rubbish pipe remnants from elbow ,and push on a bit of what for decades has been known as clear flexible washer pipe.Shame Cit didnt use some. I have also shown how the 3rd brake light unclips and pushes out from the trim. Other bit of old pipe accessed by pulling down headlining from edge at rubber tailgate seal ,theres a push into hole clip to lever out-look in with a torch,I then cut the old pipe off the joint ribs just inside the lining. It pulls thru' the grommet and the new pipe can be inserted and pushed onto the ribbed connector All pushed ,banged and cracked back into placed-warning, all these bits never look quite as neatly fitted again Link to Photobucket I hope http://s796.photobucket.com/user/nevcco/library/C5%20Tourer%20Tailgate%20exterior%20trim%20removal?sort=3&page=1 Nevcco
  4. my ha'penny worth -I have a tourer exc trim with sat nav.I dont like it because you get a bizzare radio with built in phone using its own sim card and a satnav (navteq) integrated with it .The sat nav is one of those duff ones you cant enter a postcode which is what i want to do most times ,it also doesnt display speed limit ,a most useful feature on eg a cheap Garmin ,which can really help on our poorly signed roads. The radio doesnt have a usb input or bluetooth.my radio has already had a complete electronic meltdown ,rendering the satnav screen blank,I had to send it to an excellent guy in Alicante,Spain who had to change the HDD it has inside it ,a not uncommon fault apparently......rant over To sum up -the Satnav version gives you a poor satnav electronically integrated with an odd radio with limited features. The "lower " spec car has a radio you can swap for your choice of kit and use a cheap fully specced satnav from the high street .Maybe Citroen admitted this with the pricing
  5. My rear washer pipe -yes the one made of nasty brittle corrugated junk, has snapped just where it exits the tailgate edge -the question is how to remove the plastic exterior trim at the top of the tailgate which contains the 3rd brake light and washer nozzle? Have removed the 2 obvious torx30 screws inside the gate but I suspect there are others hidden under interior trim.Anyone done this succesfully? Thanks. Car is 09 2.0HDi Tourer exc
