  1. Have found out how to hand crank the engine to my 2003 c3 1.4 Hdi desire: Jacked up drivers side of car. With a socket and ratchet I turned the crankshaft pulley which cranked the engine, so now I know the engine turns and need to do further testing on the starter electrics. I made sure the ignition was off and engine out of gear 1st. I want to check out the cause of the non cranking myself because I had just paid another £300 to an Auto Electrician to solve and fit a new starter motor and a push button starter, thus bypassing the ignition switch which he said was faulty. Apparently this caused the bendix not to spring back after the car started and thus burnt out the starter motor. Within six days of getting the car back, I came out in the morning and the car would not start, even after trying to push start it. I contacted the auto electrician who said he would organise something because I couldn't get the car to him. But I have not heard from him since then. So, I want to go through all the tests myself as I don't want to be stitched up.
  2. Have found out how to solve my latest post and want to edit it.
  3. I need to check if non cranking is electrical or mechanical. I think it may be mechanical.
  4. Tried the jump lead test on 3 areas of engine to make sure of good contact and still nothing. No sound. I can't re-check with lights etc on because it went into ECO mode originally after a while. del
  5. Hi. Coastline Will try the jump lead test. I'm on a 3rd floor flat so will be a few minutes but will get back to you. Thanks del
  6. Hi John, Thanks for reply. I don't know because I haven't a tester, but I can have headlights on, wipers on, blinker on all at the same time while turning ignition key full on and none of them are affected, all working just the same. Hope that helps. del
  7. Engine won't even turn over. No clicking. No sound except that of turning key. Lights do not dim when key turned to attempt starting. Checked connections to starter motor and solinoid - all ok. (New starter motor 6 months ago) Checked battery connections, & Fuses. All ok. With key turned full on, after a few seconds, warning lights go of except the ECU light stays on and battery light flashing as gone into economy mode. Think maybe ignition switch faulty but don't know how to access the wiring to check it. (& possibly replace it) Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks del
