  1. All done. Coastline was absolutely spot on with his advice. Especially the part about it being a "complete pig to do" Don't think I have ever used that many expletives before, ever!
  2. Thanks for the detailed info. I thought there must be something else that needed to be removed. I'll report back how I get on.
  3. Hi all. Hoping that someone can help me with this. I have a C5 2.2hdi 56 plate. The handbrake cable frayed and kept catching on the guide tube. I purchased a new cable, and as expected, when I attempted to replace, the old cable was well and truly seized inside the guide tube. I got a new guide tube. I have managed to get the old tube disconnected so it is loose, but I can't get it out, either from the wheel arch or underneath? I've undone the bolt inside wheel arch, I've unclipped it at the clip midway, and pulled it out from beneath (the end is hanging down. Front exhaust is disconnected and Heatshield moved. All the pulling, twisting and jiggling just won't get it to come out. Can anyone tell me 1, does it come out from the wheel arch or underneath or either? And 2, if it comes out underneath, do I perhaps need more height? The cars on 8" ramps with suspension on highest. Any ideas? Dave
  4. Hi all, I'm Dave, married, 3 kids, postman, living in Caterham (who I worked for, for a couple of years) Surrey. I have a 56 reg C5 2.2hdi VTX+ I've owned it for a year (ish) first Citroen I've owned. Undoubtedly the most comfortable car I've ever owned, and one of the best equipped! I simply refuse to pay someone to fix my car. I'm not a qualified mechanic, but since owning my very first car, I have always been a tinkerer 😃 mind you, I've just passed the big 50! So crawling around underneath is becoming a bit more of a challenge, with lots of knee cracking when I get back up 😄. I got the C5 fairly cheap, as it had a short MOT. I Replaced all discs and pads, front suspension bushes, drop links, cv boots, track rods, a wheel speed sensor and complete front o/s hub, and it passed! However, 2 days after it passed a problem arose, which I'm about to post a "HELP!" About. Thought I'd say hello first😃
