  1. Hi again, My car is a 55 registered 2005. I had gathered that this P0001 code is a bit of a red herring. I'll seek out a better diagnosis hoping that will help narrow things down a bit. On this last 'limp' episode it happened on the way out to dinner with friends. We diverted to the nearest restaurant we could walk to while the car gathered it's senses but late in the evening it still wouldn't go properly. We were towed home. The next morning the situation was still the same so I thought I would get someone in the drivers seat to try to rev. over 3000 while I pumped the primer bulb. The problem cleared while I was demonstrating what I wanted them to do so I didn't learn anything there. I have read of many owners with a similar problem getting main agent diagnosis followed by hefty repair costs only to find the problem still returned a while later. I'll check out the thread you mentioned, Thanks.
  2. Hi paul.h thanks for the rapid response. My engine is the 138HP 2.0 double overhead cam DW10BTED4 engine code RHR. My code reader is a cheap Autel. The car starts and runs perfectly until just occasionally the MIL comes on. Usually it carries running fine but rarely it will go into limp. I can usually clear the code with the code reader and carry on but once in limp mode it could mean a fair wait at the roadside. No live data from my cheapie Autel though. If I can get some driving done I should be able to read 'Freeze Frame' data which may give fuel pressure but as I've recently cleared codes there is no data stored yet. I replaced the fuel filter recently which cured the stream of air bubbles visible in the fuel line from the filter housing to the high pressure pump.I hoped that was my salvation but the car stopped again a couple of days ago. It's going fine again now but I know it will recur. Thanks for your interest.
  3. Hi, I'm a new member seeking advice on my C5 Mk.II VTR Diesel. I've been getting a fault code P0001 which sometimes puts the car into limp mode. I realise a lot of people have searched for the meaning of this code but it seems without too much success. It refers to the fuel system and I wondered if I may have a low pressure fuel pump problem. There was no 'ticking' from the tank area when first switching on so I thought I had found my problem. I took the sender unit out of the tank but there is no fuel pump in there, just a cylindrical filter connected to a tube then to the outlet on the top. I have the Haynes manual that refers to an in-tank pump but is the VTR model different? Has anyone encountered this one before. Advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.
