  1. Has anyone tried adding electric RWD to a C5 wagon, to achieve AWD? There seems to be space in the spare wheel well for 2 electric motors. My wife and I want to do a caravanning trip arpimd Australia (a 'lap'). The C5 has 2.000 kg towing GVM, but only 75 kg max ball load, probably limited by the long rear overhang 'lifting' the front driving wheels and losing traction. AWD will also take us places that FWD cannot. Many roads are signposted "4WD ONLY". We love the comfort and economy of our diesel C5 and don't want to buy a 4WD. Can anyone in Australia, or anywhere else, help? Many thanks, Ross Lander PS A good alternative would be a diesel DS Safari wagon, if they were ever made.
  2. C5 75kg max towball load is inadequate for a 2000kg caravan in Australia. Ball load usually 10% of gross 'van mass. C5 has long rear overhang, lifts the front, not good for FWD traction or stability. I am disappointed. The DS safari is such a great tow vehicle, but it is not diesel (or is it, or can it be?) DS has a short rear, Has anyone done or heard of adding electric RWD to a C4 wagon, for better traction with a 'van, or poor roads/conditions? This would need a lot of computer control, I guess. We don't want to buy a 4WD - too expensive to buy and run, plus we want to travel in comfort towing a 'van around a 'lap' of Aus. Any ideas?
