  1. Thanks, I had read about the correct fluid and I don't think that is what I replaced it with. Tell me, even with the incorrect fluid and levels, is it possible to get absolutely zero drive still? it would be reassuring to know either way.
  2. Cheers Paul, When I took off the front panel, this selector is clearly exposed and the Torx Pin appears to simply fit back into the selector. I was wondering if this selector activates solenoids to change the gears, and if so, whether something needs resetting, either mechanically or electrically.
  3. hi, I have a problem. Changing the oil on the Xsara at the weekend, not paying any attention, and ended up dropping the transmission fluid. Unable to find anywhere on the net which shows how to check the level and how to top up, I ended up removing the battery box and air box. The only obvious top up bolt I could see was a large Torx Bolt. I removed this, filled back up with 3 litre of fluid, refitted. In hindsight, I think this bolt is a locking/pivot pin for the gear selector. I refitted it back into the hole, all appeared ok. Now there is no drive in any gear. and the gear selection is inconsistent. So, please keep the abuse and laughter to a minimum, as I have already heard it all from the wife. Also, I don't have the funds to get a mechanic to look at it, so was hoping it was just an ECU reset or something. cheers
