  1. Thanks andymarve ...that sounds good and reassuring...the oil temp on my old (2004) C5 was shown on a dial (rather than illuminated blocks on this model) and it only ever moved up by about 4 or 5 millimetres whereas the water temp dial went up to about half way...so just wanted to check in view of what the manual indicated.
  2. Just acquired car and I'm not familiar with the water and Oil Temp display as to what is 'Normal' when engine has reached operating temperature. The Owners handbook talks about 'Normal' temperature for both being within 'Zone A' which seems to be displaying [][][][][] (5 bars) for both Oil & Water. My car is displaying [][][][][][][] (7 bars) when it has reached operating temperature (when I have driven about 5 miles). Should I be at all concerned? The car has done 66,000 miles overall BTW.
  3. Hi, I took delivery of this used C5 yesterday and everything seems quite different to my previous 2004 C5 so please forgive me if I'm missing anything obvious. Took the car out last night and, a there was mist on the windscreen I tried to turn the fan up full (this used to demist the screen almost instantaneously in my previous C5 and the fan was very audible) but there was no sound of a fan whatsoever and the screen did not demist (even though I depressed the 'front demist' switch which lit up). Would I be right to assume that I should be able to hear the blower fan and that it is probably not functioning? If so, does anyone have any idea of the likely cause?
  4. Thanks for your thoughts so far people. i went to car this afternoon to check airbag cables etc. but, before doing anything thought I would try giving the engine a quick crank in the hope that it may just 'catch'. To my surprise, the engine crank was quite lively (after the battery draining yesterday and it being quite cold at about 4 degrees today) with the car starting quickly! :o Went for a short run up and down the motorway and, on return, shut down & measured battery voltage which was 12.6V. I then fired up again and tested voltage at idle which read 14.3V. These seem quite good readings to me and seem to show 1) the battery is good (as expected - since the battery is quite new) and has recovered from being run flat. 2) the charging system is working ok. I'm still therefore puzzled what caused the drained battery scenario yesterday
  5. Hi, I'm new to this forum so hoping you may be gentle with me :-) Citroen C5 HDI VTR (2004) . About a week ago a 'Passenger Airbag Deactivated' message came up (accompanied by the normal beeps and warning lights). After restart the message disappeared and all seemed well. Today however, the vehicle would not start and the battery completely drained quickly. Now, the battery was replaced about a month ago and has been great until now. I'm wondering whether it is possible that the airbag fault is connected - perhaps by causing a parasitic drain? Views would be appreciated.
