Can not tell you how grateful i am for all the help,think i will first get the door card off have a look at the door lock to see if there are anything fixable there if not replace that if i manage to get central locking fully working on the key i will then think about the fob. The link you sent me do i just register ?

That sounds about right,sit in the car with all 4 doors shut press lock button on dash it clicks but no doors lock. Get out with 3 doors locked and drivers door open press the lock button on dash again click but no doors lock, 3 doors shut passenger door open click this time central locking kicks in on the 3 shut doors slam the passenger door lock that with key all 4 doors shut. What do you think would you leave it as it is ? don't want to end up with no working key !!!!!!!!!!!! Can borrow a C4 fob type key, do you think it could do any harm trying my key in the ignition then seeing if the fob will sync to the central locking using the instruction you where kind enough to put up for me ? If it does sync i am thinking i will at least hear a click then i could go a head and change the faulty passenger door lock mechanism (or its wiring) like you say.

Just a update to the post. What i was hoping for help with is i can now use central locking by going to the passenger door open that press the lock symbol on the dash shut the door and lock that with the key.Then do the opposite to gain entry which would not be to bad if lock was on drivers door.Firstly is there a way that the key alone can be used to activate and deactivate the central locking without having to press the lock symbol on the dash ?Better still would it be possible to buy a fob type key from ebay or the likes and sync it to the central locking as i already have a key that is programmed to the car i could use this one too start it and the fob type one just for the central locking ? or again could i split my programmed key (none fob type) and put the inners of that in a fob type key ?Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

You have been a great help and thanks for that, just wondering if any other member knows the procedure of syncing the fob to the car ? Also if i bought a key off ebay or even a second hand (fob type) one would it be possible to sync it to the car so i could use that for the central locking and use the none fob type one which i already have that starts the car ?

Just pressed the lock on the dash and yes central locking kicks in so i can just open passenger door press the lock then lock passenger door with key so car is secure thanks for that,is there no way i can make central locking kick in when i lock passengers door with key ?

Thanks for that,never came with proper key fob salvage car so not much i can do to be honest. The key i have starts the car (non fob type) so does that mean it as some sort of chip in it and as been programmed to the car ? If it had not been programmed to the car would the car not start due to immobiliser ? Seen the fobs on ebay very cheap could i not just buy one of these and program it to work the doors only ? and use the key that came with the car to start it ? Any more help or advice would be great thanks again.

Hello this is my first post and hoping someone can help me, just bought a c4 06 reg 5 door it came with one key the blade fits the lock in the front passengers door and will lock it manually ( the only door with a lock on) but only that door locks the central locking is not activated when i lock the passenger door, it also starts the car, my problem is the key is not the fob type (no buttons for central locking etc) Question 1 should my central locking not be activated when i lock the passenger door manually ? Question 2 Does this mean there is something wrong with my central locking ? Question 3 Is there any way i can get a fob type key to work the central locking etc ? At a push if i could just lock the car securely for now that would help greatly at the moment the only door i can lock is the front passengers. Car is in the garage at the moment but hoping to start using it for work next week,would rather not leave it open all day on a public car park. Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.
