  1. Fuel filter was changed 12 months ago, the car needs a service though, to be fair. I drive 95% motorway miles and the car does 400-450 miles per week and I try to service it every 8,000 miles but I'm 4,000 late for this one due to one reason or another. It's had fuel injector problems in the past as when I got it it was pretty 'carboned up' and number 1 injector needed to be taken out cleaned off then re-seated. DPF was changed 16,000 miles ago and the guy did say I may get sensor problems as one new part in an older system can throw up errors. The car is an absolute dream in most ways though, I throw the cruise control on at 70 and it just glides to work, I love the stupid old thing, she's just riddled with little issues, unfortunately.
  2. Hi guys, I have the 1.6HDI and on these cold mornings when I start my car it fires up straight away, but then dies 5 or so seconds later. It then takes a good couple of minutes turning it over until it starts up again. There are no warning lights and if the temperature stays reasonably high overnight (6+degrees) the issue doesn't happen at all. Any ideas?
  3. Read about the corrosion elsewhere on here, so I'll check that. Got a feeling it's brake disc related, as when I'm coming to a stop they do squeal a lot, only when you apply that last bit of pressure to stop do they do this though.
  4. Hi guys, My 06 C5 makes a noise when pulling off, it's like a rubbing sound. It only happens when I'm moving off from a standing start just after the bite point is reached as the wheels turn. Any ideas?
  5. also, to clarify, the injector isn't leaking as it had come loose and after he tightened it it's been fine. But he still said he wants it changing to be fair.
  6. I'm honestly not sure where it's leaking from. Only thing I'd say is it's from the right hand side.
  7. Thank you for your quick response, much appreciated. The car has done just under 92k. Re: The turbo - The car runs perfect and their are no other signs of anything else wrong (from a driving perspective). Just that my mate noticed the oil leak and advised me to get it refurbed with a kit (seals etc.) before it goes. Also, due to the motorway driving and cruise control the car never goes above 3,000rpm, will this have any effect, positive or negative? Re: The DPF - I've only just bought the car, so it's only just started doing the motorway miles and the bloke that had it before me had only really used it for driving around the village. I bought it at a price that recognised this potential problem to be fair, so I'm already fine with spending a little to bring it back up to shape. Re: Fuel Injector - My mate didn't think that would be a problem to do, although to the untrained eye (mine) it did look like a lot and he said it would keep working loose due to carbon build up underneath. Certainly not a job (nor is any to be honest) I will be attempting.
  8. Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and new to owning a Citroen! After a bit of advice. My car is a 2006 plate 1.6 HDI C5. Problems: DPF, showing as risk of blockage, mate wants to replace it and has quoted me £165 - sound about right? Also with that was a loose fuel injector with carbon build up, he's saying £15 to sort that. Now, the main problem - the turbo. The car is showing no effects of any problems, but mate says it's leaking oil and wants to refurbish it costing £100+. Now, what I want advice on is that pay day isn't until the end of the month and obviously Xmas is round the corner. Would I be ok still driving it until then? It's the turbo that's my main worry, the car does only motorway driving and does 150 miles per day 5 days a week. Any advice (suspecting it's more reassurance I need) will be greatly appreciated. Justin.
