  1. Brilliant thank you. ...
  2. Hi again and thanks for your advice but the driveshafts will have to come out from what I've read so it'll be easier to just replace the seals at the same time. It's easier to refit the gearbox if the shafts are out as apparently it's a bit of a pig to line back up if not. Plus the gearbox is quite light in comparison to others and it'll be me and my 12 year old son doing the work so don't really fancy having too much weight to deal with once the engines been supported. Cheers again Paul. .Mark. ..
  3. Hi Paul thanks very much for your help as it's brilliant. I've ordered a new clutch fork kit which was nearly as much as the clutch kit surprisingly. I've also taken your advice and ordered a new clutch bearing guide seal and decided to also replace the diff oil seals as the driveshafts will have to come out both sides apparently. I was going to buy semi-synthetic gearbox oil but on reflection decided on total 75/80 oil as it's apparently what's best to keep the gearbox tight. They certainly know how to charge and got no change from £120 for the parts alone. If I run into any problems whilst fitting I'll be sure to give you a shout back but hopefully with the advice you've given me I should be OK as I'm quite methodical and will label and diagram everything as it comes off.So again many thanks for your help Paul. Take care, Mark. ..
  4. Hi again I've decided to get the clutch replaced in my saxo 1.1i on an 02 plate at last. Can someone please advise me exactly what I should replace besides the 3 part clutch. Should I replace the diff oil seals ? Should I replace the clutch fork and the clutch bearing guide/seal and other bearings which I believe go over the bearing guide aswell ? Thanks, Mark. ..
  5. Thanks Paul I mentioned that to the garage owner and as he said, should there be any problems once fitted they'll give me the same warranty on the fitting so should the clutch fail they'll remove it and send it back to the manufacturer themselves along with the bill for the refit. I bought the same clutch they would have provided anyway. Thanks for your concern but I believe that I covered aspects. It's a local garage that has a fantastic reputation in the local community and I'm 49 year old so not susceptible to being ripped off bud . Nice one all the same, Mark. ..
  6. Hi,my saxo keyfob doesn't work. I've changed the battery but to no avail. It looks very sparse inside the fob with two button terminals attached to a small circuit board. Theres nothing to hold the battery in place other than the two terminal surrounds and an indent in the plastic.if I buy another fob how difficult is it to mate it to the car ? Its a sequence of turns of the key and button presses with ford's to mate the fob. Also will the alarm and immobiliser be activated using the key alone? Any help will be humbly accepted. Thanks, Mark. ..
  7. Hi,many thanks for your replies which have been very helpful. To answer your questions about the pedal,it's down on the floor but move able. Iv given the lever on the clutch housing a knock with a hammer and it moved back bringing the pedal up.Once pushed down again it hit a bump then remained down again. It's obviously a knackered clutch bearing. I've ordered a full new clutch kit for £30 off ebay and have booked it into a local garage whose quoted me £120 all inclusive for the fitting only. That's half the price of the other quotes I had and I reckon a bargain. Hopefully that'll be the end of it. Again many thanks. It's a shame that there isn't an android app for this site as it's brilliant. I'll know where to look and will keep intouch.cheers. Mark. ..
  8. Thank you the kits cheap enough at £30 but the gearbox will have to be dropped and isn't a job I fancy in this weather.Ive seen on YouTube that a common problem is a plastic part on the top of the pedal that quite often snaps. There wasn't any play in the clutch but I could smell burning like break pads but really strong when I last used the car. When the pedal went to the floor I felt a lump half way down. It's got me baffled. The squealing noise I thought may have been the alternator but it varied in sound when I depressed the clutch. Any ideas would be gratefully received. .thanks again, Mark. ...
  9. I have a saxo 1.1i 2002 reg. Theres a whine coming from the engine which I believe is from the clutch. Today the clutch pedals gone to the floor and hasn't returned. When I manually lift the clutch pedal the cable extends from the engine where it's fastened to. There's no movement from the clutch mechanism at the top of the clutch housing. Could it be the release bearings gone? If so how easy is it to replace myself ?
