Thanks for your reply, the engine management light comes on when the car is started so the bulbs are ok, I did buy a code reader but unfortunately it dose not work on my model as it is pre 2004, I will have a good look at the wiring tomorrow to make sure nothing is damaged, but it was fine before I changed the starter motor, the breakers near to me has a maf sensor from a c3 Picasso but it is a 1.6 hdi, would this be the same part as on the 1.4? It looks identical, but not sure if it is the same part, thanks again for your help I'll post my findings if I can sort it!?

Hi, I have a c3 exclusive 1.4 hdi 16v on a 52 plate, I recently had to change the starter motor as it was faulty but after fitting the new one & putting the car back together it doesn't want to rev past 2000rpm, & it has no power, I can put the accelerator to the floor but it just doesn't want to go, there are no warning lights or anything up on the dash, iv checked all the hoses & connectors & all seems to be as it should, the only thing I think it may be is the mass air flow sensor that is in the pipe going from air box to turbo as this was taken on & off a fair bit to get access, can anyone tell me if I'm on the right track? I unplugged it & the car stayed the same so I'm assuming it is the cause? Any help would be appreciated, & will the maf from a c3 1.6 16v be a suitable replacement as I'm having trouble finding a reasonably priced one for the 1.4 engine, thanks.
