  1. I've recently paid the customary £160+ to get a new key/fob from the dealers and I can see why I was having so much trouble with the transponder key opening doors as it was so badly worn away. (I bought with only the transponder key, I know it was stupid) Now I want to save myself some money if possible and replace the blade in the transponder key. There are no screws on the casing but there is a line around the key which indicates it is likely 2 moulded plastic parts which are pushed together. Is it easy/possible to just replace the blade with these type of transponder keys? I will obviously then have the blade cut from the new key.
  2. Hi, I have a couple of jobs I need to do with my C4. There is a message on the dash that the pollen filtration system is faulty. I have been told by the dealer that this means the filter probably needs replacing. Can anyone confirm that this is likely the case? How simple is it to replace the filter and where under the bonnet should I be looking? Is this an easy DIY job for someone who is engineering minded but by far not a car expert? Will it require a new filter or is it possible to clean/vacuum the existing one as is possible with other makes/models? Would this issue (pollen filtration system faulty) cause the EML to light up? When looking under the bonnet there is a mat (can't think of the right term, sorry) which is attached to the gulley the the bottom of the windscreen and goes under the gulley (Some type of insulation?). This is attached to the gulley at several points along it's length with plastic studs/clips apart from one point where there seems to be a join. Is it possible to buy a replacement of this mat as it's a bit wet and is hanging down a little over the back of the engine block. If not is t simply a case or drilling a new hole for a plastic clip and reattaching it? (The hole in the mat where the original clip goes has ripped and the clip wont now hold it. The tailgate. It opens fine and the struts keep the tailgate open, but when closing it slams shut. Other cars I've had have usually had some form of paddinbg around the tailgate and the boot closes without a slam. It's like there is a buffer or something missing. Both the rubber mounts are attached to the tailgate and I can't see that there is immediately anything missing. There is a rubber seal around the outside of boot opening. Should there be another one of these rubber seals around the inside of the boot opening where the carpet for the boot is clipped as the clips are missing (I have replacements) and the carpet is a bit loose? If so are these easily obtainable? If not can anyone suggest anything else as I'm worried about the effect the closing of the boot with the slamming might have on the glass. Would this identify an issue with the struts? Thanks
  3. Would it be possible to obtain a used fob, programme it, and just use it to open the doors, then continue using the transponder key to start the car? This would then allow me time to save and get a proper key/set of keys sorted out.
  4. Hi, I'm new to Citroen cars having recently purchased a 2nd hand C4 VTR 2005 model. Unfortunately I made the rookie mistake of purchasing a car with only the transponder key and no FOB or card with PIN Code. I've been quoted £145 +VAT to get a new fob provided. They come to me, programme the fob and cut the key etc. This is on Manchester/Oldham areas. Is this the best deal I'm likely to get? How does this compare to dealer prices? Is there any other way around this? Is it possible to get a used fob with blank key blade and reprogramme the fob to the car DIY? I did this with my last car and it saved a fortune when the fob broke. Also the Transponder key is a bit hit and miss when opening via the passenger door. I have to pull the key in and out sevral times before it will unlock. s this likely to be a lock issue or is it because the key is becoming worn? Is there an easy fix to this? Would having a blank key cut just for entry/fuel cap use be beneficial? Is there a special way of using the key to unlock the door that I'm not aware of? Any advice on this appreciated
