John Many thanks. I tried that. It turned out to be a slight leak from one of the LHM pipes which dropped the fluid level. Topping up with LHM did the trick. Lesson learned and repair no very necessary. Thanks again

Has anyone any advice on the instance of the STOP and temperature dashboard light flickering and coming and going. This happened also a year or so ago, sorted itself for months and has now recurred. Temperature gauge normal, water level normal, oil level normal and oil clear. 1997/8 XM SX 16v (estate)
