  1. I had it on axle stands and jacks! ;-)
  2. Sorted, little link rod with the ball and sockets either end had popped off the rear height adjuster.Popped back on after a clean but no reassuring pop when i pressed it back in,tied a little piece of wire round it in the meantime to keep it in situ.
  3. 2004 mk1 c5 diesel estate, just yesterday i was singing the virtues of the car to the misses about how great the cars been, sod's law, today for whatever reason i left the house and the suspension was really bouncy? Got out of car and rear of suspension was at the full height??No amount of putting syspension up and down rectified it. Now i know for a fact suspension fluid is low and i have some on order, would this cause this problem, low fluid??There's no major leaks etc.Oh,and is it just normal lhm fluid? Thanks.
  4. I did mean to mention it has a new battery,as i heard things can go haywire on these cars with a duff battery.Batteries only about three weeks old. Just as a matter of interest,do these cars still show a battery light flickering like normal cars if the alternator was on its way out?
  5. Damp, frosty weather causing odd little things happening.First off about 5 days ago, frosty morning cold start brake pad warning light came up?Pads, discs etc renewed a few weeks, immediately switched car off then on again, never seen warning again!! So,not particulary bothered about that one, today fired car up,cold damp, frosty morning again, heard one little beep when drawing away from the house? After a mile or so the orange service light would flicker on and off occasionally. It wasn't staying on solid?Later on after a restart it flickered for a few seconds, next journey no service light flickering at all?? No other warning lights and car running fine.
  6. Think its an 8 valve.Ive taken off the top engine cover for a quick look, and there they were, looks pretty straightforward. Most sellers on Ebay seem to sell them by year of the car, some even selling them for £8.99,for four!!
  7. Are glow pugs the same on pre 2004 models and mk 2's?
  8. Thanks. Its just yesterday yet again i was trying to get the parking sensors working and noticed the drip. Gaiter itself seems to play quite an important part as far as i read regarding holding fluid, maybe just needs the gaiter but i'd be as well replacing the seals while i'm in there, treat her after sailing through the mot! ;-)
  9. Past mot today, woohoo but noticed one of the rear struts is seeping slightly(suspension works perfectly).Noticed in Haynes they can easily be rebuilt with new seals, are these a dealer only part?,never seen any on Ebay etc.
  10. See the wiring plugs that come off the sensors, can i just test the terminals on this for a live feed like in an,ahem,'normal' car. ;-)
  11. Yes i set up pads to disc first, slackened off cable etc.A bit worried what you're saying about the three clicks.Since i've had car its had one firm click, and the handbrake works perfectly. I think i'll slacken it off even more than it was originally.
  12. Yes i'd done a fair bit of reading before doing the job, went fairly well.Setup pads to disc first then connected handbrake. It was slightly weird cable wouldn't reach new caliper lever?Head scratcher that one!;-)
  13. Getting each job one by one, today parking sensors.Outward two were clicking, inner two not so clicky. Bought four tested ones off Ebay, replaced inner two sensors and they didn't work? The electrical connectors weren't clicking home properly so cable tied them drawing them into the sensors, still nothing. Could it be a wiring fault?Im guessing if module was jiggered all four sensors wouldn't click?
  14. Mk1 c5 2.0hdi exclusive, just wondering if the front screen should be heated?Dont see a fuse listed for it,there are those little dots on the screen above the rear view mirror like there's something around the screen, has anyone got one? Really frosty this morning but nothing seemed to start melting except where air was coming out of dash at screen bottom.
  15. I actually thought maybe 'i' had dowsed it in releasing fluid just by habit when i was scrambling under the car last week cleaning oil off places, but no,i kept wiping it and it kept coming back! :-( Got second hand caliper yesterday, fitted it just now. Only problem i had was i had to slacken handbrake cable off a tad so it would reach handbrake lever on new caliper, tightened up cable again once fitted now everything's fine!
  16. So,just as a matter of interest has anyone rebuilt one if these calipers or had this particular leak and solved it? I'd like to know how it physically leaks from there? There must be a dust seal then a main seal one below that that's jiggered?Never seen anything in a rebuild kit to accomodate anything more than piston seals, slider rubbers etc.
  17. Been there done that!Did notice that while working on the brakes. It had been, by looking at it a 'very' fine mist, just slightly darker looking than the rest of the strut, not soaked, thanks for that anyway! ;-)
  18. I've not really had car long enough to judge fluid loss, brakes are perfect though eitherwise.I wiped caliper dry, drove it about 5 miles and caliper is still dry?I'll check it again tomorrow. I've ordered a used caliper anyway just incase as i've got an mot in a week, like being prepared for mot's. ;-)
  19. I would expect brake fluud to either leak from a brake hose, burst caliper piston seal or bleed nipple. But when replacing discs and pads i noticed fluid coming down from the spring where the handbrake mechanism/lever is?(before i fitted disc/pads on that side) Is this a common place for a leak on these?I'm guessing instead of mucking around rebuilding it putting a new seal or whatever in there i'd be as well buying a used caliper? Thanks.
  20. Sorry about the typing errors in my above post, sometimes when i type things on my phone and i look back at what i've typed, and think what the hell is that gibberish! ;-) Hopefully typis aren't too confusing.
  21. Got the lexia running and had a couple of codes come up,one i read online might be a glow plug? Car starts first turn, but what ive noticed is with it getting colder it takes a noticeable 2 seconds or so longer to start, thats all. I've never really been aware of a glow plug symbol on the dash you usually get on a diesel?,does the dash light just come on when its cold enough? Don't know if these are maybe old fault codes i'm picking up,can i just erase them, then look for faults again then whatever faults show will be live or current ones? Here is a pic of the faults.
  22. I think the two main things that held me up was this determination to try and get it working in anything else but xp,if you're going down the trying to get Windows 10 or anything in a windows 7 or xp mode, forget it! Bite the bullet and download virtualbox (its free) if you're running anything after Xp. Then install a copy of windows xp in this virtual box, easy instructions all over for doing this, and making virtual box import the use of your dvd,usb connection etc. Next thing folks might disagree with, forget diagbox, just install Lexia 3 on your new windows xp install, then upgrade it with the 'one' update on your Lexia cd. Next potential pitfall is the keygen part,on 'my' cd it just had Lexia 345 then update was 347.In the keygen type in exactly Lexia-347,when you click option 'manual activation'(or whatever it was) its the top option anyway, that's where all the stuff is you type into your keygen which is on the cd(you have this running at same time)the long number your keygen produces after you have typed in details from the activation page could be the next hitch that might catch you out after a successfull install, type it in without the hyphens/minus signs) is where Next hitch is when you are asked for the vin number and rpo for your car, vin, pretty straightforward(v5 document or plate under rear left seat(mk1 c5). People might get stumped by the RPO. It's on your driver side A post the front door hinges are on(tyre pressures there too).I heard all sorts about these numbers,my number was 09573,you only need the '9573' part. I found first few times i opened it up with ignition on etc ready to go it wouldn't come up with the car choice screen,a fault would come up saying card can't be read,or some other warning? Just close everything down and start things up again, eventually it will open up ok. One other thing ,when you install windows in virtual box right click on the small xp screen in your virtual box and find in there the option to change resolution up to the next one,1024x whatever it is,if you don't do this you'll have a tiny windows xp and a larger lexia screen you can all see properly, once resolution is changed maximise screens at top right if your xp screen. Now as you can tell,i haven't taken much time to describe this in a sequential manner, just the order my stumbling points popped into my head while typing this. My email is lrobertson58@sky.com if anyone wants any guidance.
  23. Thanks for that, internet being the internet google had my head full of potential answers,so i used a mixture of them all. All i did was switch car on,window down, hold button down for 10 seconds, put window up and once fully up held it again for 10 seconds, had to do this three or four times and it's fine now! Thanks!
  24. Got it!!Never found anywhere online that went as far as saying every single stage to go through to find the page to disable the tyre pressure sensors, never mibd the fact once you do find it you then need an access code to disable it?? Just riad tested car and no warnings/beeping about puntres, sensirs missing,i'm so chuffed!! Particularly as i was under a bit of pressure as i was booked in thus comung Thursday to pay about 70 quid to get it done, and ofcourse they said my machine wouldn't do it and it was quite difficult/involved to do?? ;-) Don't know if my emails available on this site for people if they have any questions about installing it,or using the software. Better to pester me and maybe get answers on a one to one basis than posting on a forum and the thread fades away and you're stuck! ;-)
  25. Woohoo!Got there in the end!Got Lexia 3 workinf, but, achieved absolutely nothing after all that. I wanted to disable tpms dash warnings, got excited when i saw deflation detection, but there was nowt there to change?Or is there, anyone help?
