  1. hi i have a 2.0i 8v r reg, the other night driving home the cam belt went, possible damaged the values :( . I'm looking at getting another head for her and as a last option either new engine or buying new car. first things first i have been told by 2 local breakers that a 406 engine and xantia are roughly the same and that i could put a 406 head in. Does anyone know if thats possible??????? and second how easy is it to put a new engine in. oh and the belt was only changed 2 years ago and i've only done 11000 miles in that time Zoe
  2. Hi all, I have had my Xantia 98 2.0 automatic for just over a year now, and i'm planing on giving her a service this weekend, but a few things has stumped me a little and that is the LHM and air/pollen filter. My LHM is a reddish/brown colour, when i think it should be green (am i right) why is it this colour and is it best to drain it and clean the sphere out? Now the air/pollen filter should i just clean it or get a new? Also could some one tell me what this is, inside on the roof at the front there is, what looks like an eye camrea, but its not any ideas thanks inadvance Zoe

hi just to let you all know. i am with liverpool victoria, i am a first time driver and my car is a xantia 2.0 sx r reg, and i am fully comp and is costing my just short of £500 a year. i dont think its too dear either compared to some insurers wanting just short of £2000 Zoe
  4. hi all if the car has had a new wingscreen fitted, it sometimes seals the key hole, so you can't find it. i only know this as at 3 this morning my alarm thought it sounds lovely to got off every 15/30 minutes, in between resetting and searching the net. i found this out. hope it helps you all out abit more. Zoe
  5. thanks colin. just been back out, and had a listen from the outside, when the wheel is turned and helded it is louder from the wheels both side. its like a hissing/liquid running noise, but its just worried me abit, as its the first time i have heard it in the 6 months i have had her.
  6. hi all have a xantia 2'0i auto sx, just come back in from driving and have heard a hissing noise's when i turn the wheel both left and right. sounds like its coming from the from wheels but not 100% sure. would i be right in thinking its the steer pump, or is it something else. got to say i have never heard it before. thanks all Zoe
  7. hi colin thanks for that advice, but after yesterday getting the new mirror off the exact same car as mine, the panel does need to come off, as the wiring is under the panel, and that triangle where the sensor is goes roughly 2inches down. I have manage to get a hanyes manual, and in it says something about disconnect the battery after you have put the mirror down about half way. would i really need to disconnect it? thanks Zoe
  8. hi all I am hoping someone can help me in detail on how to remove and fit the passenger wingwirror. i have a R Reg 2.0i xantia, and some kids tried to break in last night, when they could not get in they broke the wing mirror, this are electric mirror. i have manage to get one from the breakers, but i know want to reck the door putting it on ( did that to the other one  ) the main thing is taking the door interior off with out damaging it, and where the ultrasonic sensor is, to get to the 2 troque screws. :) Zoe20
  9. it hasn't done it since and the light hasn't come on. and what is wrong with a petrol? for a new driver (like me) and for a first time car, i love it. lol i dont think it does too bad for petrol, i know a tenners worth does about 50miles.
  10. Hi thanks for the replies. the level in the tank is quite full(its in the neck). my dad did top this up in JAN this year when he got me the car, i'm not sure when it was last changed tho.
  11. Hi All This morning I went out in the car (97 sxi 2.0 v8 auto), just a short run less than 2 mile. The temp gauge went up to 90, its been fine the rest of the day. I was just wondering if I need to chance from anti-freeze to coolant, and if so how do I get the anti-freeze out to put coolant in? Thanks Zoe
  12. hi On there right side of the stearing wheel you should have 2 or 3 buttons, the one nearest the window will lock the back windows, and the next one will disarm the sensors. you will need to hold it for a few minutes. and the alarm LED will come on. also you need to have the key in, and the battery light on the dash on. and the need to do thid every time. i know its a pain in the backside.
  13. thanks for that colin. think i might have a problem with dust as i drive on a building site quite alot, but thanks anyway Zoe
  14. hi there. i have a sx 2.0i auto 98. my alarm is sensitive too, (lightest bit of wind and it goes off.) i found that if you turn the sensors off. then it doesnt go off, but it is still armed for doors, bonnet and boot, and if someone trys to tamper with it too. i hope this helps you. Zoe

  17. Hi Colin, Thanks for the advice, I was just abit worried that the oil would get out. I'm gunna ring round the breakers tomorrow to try and get a put me on. Zoe
  18. Hi all I have a sx2.0i auto. after checking the oil earlier on, the plastic bit has broken, i dont think it has gone down the hole, but the problem is, is that the dipstick is now loose. i was just wondering if it is still safe to drive. thanks Zoe20
