Guest Mark A Posted February 18, 2003 Posted February 18, 2003 Hello Has anyone else experienced 'funny' acceleration? Foot down="vehicle accelerates, then something decides to cut the power for three or so seconds", after which it picks up again. This doesn't seem to be tied to a particular engine speed or temperature ... so it's a little tricky to predict what will happen ... I've not taken this to the dealer yet. Mark Quote
mooseshaver Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 Meeee I've had this problem since October when I bought my car, and its got so bad that sometimes I have almost no power at all giving me slow acceleration and a max speed of about 34MPH on a flat road. My dealer has tried in vain to find the fault, and sometimes the fault can't be replicated. I've had new Boost Electro Valves, and some other thing that recylcled something or other. And still its not fixed. Quote
mooseshaver Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 Mark A, have you taken your car back to the Dealer yet? If so what have they done/said? Still getting nowhere with mine. Perhaps we should get our dealers to talk to eachother and see if they can come up with anything collectively? Quote
Guest Mark A Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 The vehicle's impending recall may touch on this fault so more by the middle of the month hopefully. Otherwise they'll be requested to investigate further. Quote
mooseshaver Posted February 27, 2003 Posted February 27, 2003 Mine has got better with the warmer weather. Maybe it thinks its in France and behaves better. Quote

That sounds like a separate issue. This one accelerates, then hesitates and for a few seconds seems to believe it's a naturally aspirated 1.4 diesel. Then off it goes again. It's not particularly related to certain engine revs, and I think the fault can be avoided entirely by having things up at about 2600 rpm before accelerating. Quote
mooseshaver Posted February 27, 2003 Posted February 27, 2003 mine also does that silly thing, it can happen when crusing along at 60 too. But on a bad day it does the no power at all. Quote
Guest Mark A Posted April 11, 2003 Posted April 11, 2003 The product recall (see other thread) has sorted the uneven acceleration completely ... the engine is now well behaved, and acting as though to stay that way. Gave two friends a lift away from work this evening, so four on board (though I wasn't driving ...): half way to the city came a voice from the back "God, this one's got some go hasn't it?" :-) Quote
