What Engines Will Fit My '92 Relay?

Hi, my '92 Realy motorhome has a 1.9 XUD9 diesel engine which is not in the best of health. Rather than mess about getting it reconditioned, I'm thinking of trying to find a replacemnt engine. The trouble is, as my van is 19 years old, finding the same engine is not going to be easy. Does anyone know what other vehicles have the same engine as my XUD9 which will fit without modification? My engine is pretty basic, it has no turbo, no EGR and no engine management, so I suspect more modern engines are out of the question?

the engine may fit but then you have to think about the wiring side of things.....if the old engine did,nt have the engine management ect ect that means the newer engine will coz of been a newer model so your van wont have the right wiring ect ect to get it to run. :)

Thanks Dave. I think I might go for the safer option of reconditioning the existing engine. I suspect it needs a rebore as it's breathing heavily and it's got to come out as I've got to sort out the gearbox too (stuck in neutral). By the time I'm finished I should have a van with A1 runing gear!

if its breathing heavily mite be a blocked oil breather/mucky air filter.have you looked on ebay? you never know you mite get lucky. :) this is the 1st citroen ive owned n ive noticed the parts are hard to find in a scrappy and are very pricey new.also if your car has a chipped key(imobilizer) the new engine will need the ecu and other bits to run right and you will have to get the ecu reprogrammed for the engine to start and run

......cost me 100 quid n they where there 4 minutes :) .i had a seat ibiza in my 20,s that i had to change the engine on as the old one was knackard. :)
