Looking to buy a 2003/53 C5 from a non franchised dealer. My question is if anything should go wrong with the car or a recall is needed & with 9 months of the Citroen warranty left will i still be covered under Citroen ?

Should be - even if has been serviced by a non-main dealer (subject to certain terms I don't remember).
But check it has less than 60,000 miles on it. Mine didn't, but the dealer kindly gave me a 12 month warranty from a 3rd party with it.

I needed it for a new alternator less than 2 weeks later...

The Terms of the warranty when having servicing done buy a non Citroen Dealer is that they must be VAT registed and use genuin Citroen parts only.

I bought my Pluriel from a non franchised dealer when it was 6 months old and there was no problem with the Citroen warranty. In fact the warranty was the best thing about the car  (well almost)

Roof leaks, broken seat trim and various other bits. The Pluriel was a great concept poorly executed.

I got rid of mine before the warranty ran out and just after the whole roof cassette needed replacing due to it depositing buckets of water in the middle of the boot.
