Guest robbie75 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Hi there, I have a C5 that has developed a massive leak when you fill up the washer bottle, in fact it holds no water at all. I have yet to get underneath and have a look at it, but I have been in touch with a few scrap yards to look into prices for a replacement in case the bottle has been cracked or damaged. This is where I have hit some issues. I am being told that there are two variants of the bottle and each variant has again 2 types, giving 4 bottles to choose from. I need help at this point!!! A number of places have just quoted me on a washer bottle and said that they have not heard of different ones for the same model, so have asked if it has a sensor, some have asked if i need the pump as well? I have a C5 Exclusive, 2003 03 plate in Hyacinth/Mauve/Lilac/Purple/Grayline. The onboard computer tells me that there is insufficient washer fluid, so i would hazard a guess that it has a sensor in the bottle. Can anyone tell me what shape my bottle is, if the sensor is in the bottle or in the car and therefore it does not matter if i get a bottle with or without a sensor and can anyone shed some further light onto any other issues with the bottle that may make it lose all water, especially if it has not had any bumps in that area?? Thank you all in advance and apologies for waffling slightly, but i needed to make sure I got it all in. Quote

Guest qman3428 Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 The washer pump is in the bottom of the bottle and it is these that fail especially if they are allowed to freeze. I would go no further until I have checked underneath and found the leak. get someone else to fill it while you look. Pumps are available from ebay or your dealer, last one I bought was for a Xantia about 10 years ago and it was £35 then! Quote

The level sensor is fitted into the bottle near the bottom and is a push fit with a rubber washer to seal. Remove the offside inner wheel arch and have a look it may be disloged.Barry Quote
