Guest Mark A Posted February 18, 2003 Posted February 18, 2003 Just had a recall request - it's a 2 day job and the letter from Citroen mentions valves, though the dealer (who'd not seen the letter) invoked 'Chain tensioner' I think. More anon! Mark A Quote
mooseshaver Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 I found out about the recall today by chance because I rang my dealer about my ongoing fault with lack of power. Citroen do not appear to have contacted me about the recall. I am apparently waiting for a new cam shaft and a cat. Although the cat is apparently for the rattle I get a t certain revs, despite being told previously I was getting some weights for the gearbox linkage. Quote
Guest Mark A Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 Booked this in and the dealer safety-checked the defect but was unable to proceed with the work not having received some of the parts from Citroen ... the work's been put back to March 12th or thereabouts ... Quote
mooseshaver Posted February 27, 2003 Posted February 27, 2003 Still waiting for the parts for mine, my Dealer said they would phone me this week to book it in. Would we have these same problems if we had bought Peugot? Quote
mooseshaver Posted March 11, 2003 Posted March 11, 2003 My C3 is on its way back to me now after having the recall parts fitted. Hopefully it will never have to go back again. Except for a service. Quote
mooseshaver Posted March 12, 2003 Posted March 12, 2003 Well my C3 is back. The engine sounds different than when it went away, and sounds slightly louder. Is the new Cam shaft different enough to make a different noise? Quote
Guest Mark A Posted April 11, 2003 Posted April 11, 2003 That recall - having arranged for the work to be put back from mid March to April 7th and 8th, it's now done. Initial impressions are that the work seems to have completely addressed the uneven power output of the engine - the 'turbo cutting in (and occasionally, out)' effect. It was by no means dreadful to drive before, but acceleration tended to hold too many surprises. It's still surprising now - but in a good way. Quote
Guest Mark A Posted April 24, 2003 Posted April 24, 2003 The vehicle's now covered about 1000 miles since the recall including four journeys of around 170 miles and is performing to spec. Oh and it's very relaxing on, well, Australians would hardly call them long distance journeys would they! Quote
gizzmo Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Just had a recall request - it's a 2 day job and the letter from Citroen mentions valves, though the dealer (who'd not seen the letter) invoked 'Chain tensioner' I think. More anon! Mark A I wonder if you could give me the recall number or any info on the recall at all . Much appreciated Quote
stimulator Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 There are two ways to find out the recall history on your car. Both will need your VIN number, which is on the car V5 doc and car. 1) Call/visit any main dealer and he will look up your car on the computer. All he needs is the VIN number. A list of applicable recalls will be displayed. 2) Visit the VOSA web site and lookmunder Citroen C3 and scan for your VIN number. Quote
Guest Mark A Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 I wonder if you could give me the recall number or any info on the recall at all . Much appreciated I'll check whether I still have a reference number for it and any more details. It wasn't the sort of recall listed here though: http://www.vosa.gov.uk/ I believe it was a fault encountered in just a few C3s at that time, that intermittently crippled the engine's power output at certain rpm. The symptom being that if you needed to accelerate, you'd first make a bet with yourself 'What will happen when I put my foot down?' the answer being (unpredictably) one of two things: 1) Normal acceleration2) Count to 5, not a lot, then normal acceleration The cure being to replace a whole slew of components as far as I recall, which cured it for good. Citroen will know *all* about this one. Mark Quote
