Quote
nn Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 Yesssssssssss - I've got exactly the same problem (but I was trying to ignor it). I go over the same manhole covers/bumps each day and the car sounds like it is falling to bits. Its the offside front like yours. I will be very interested to hear what they have to say about yours. I might now take mine back to the dealer because they have a body shop about 400m from the 'bumps'. Quote
pork_pie Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 Yes I have the same problem. Its one of many problems with the car but I am too shy in disclosing them as the problems are small fish compared to things like sunroofs and auto headlights. The only thing to address the problem is to say the car is s*it and sell it for something thats been built with care and not in France. Quote
owl Posted April 29, 2003 Author Posted April 29, 2003 Well it's going in on tuesday and there keeping it til its done, so i will let you know what happens Quote
pork_pie Posted April 29, 2003 Posted April 29, 2003 This tuesday.... thats going to be one of many visits you will make to the dealership. Quote

CITROENS ARE RUBBISH. Quote
organist Posted May 7, 2003 Posted May 7, 2003 Dear All, The knocking you describe is coming almost certainly from the protective (admittedly rather flimsy) tray underneath the engine. It is secured with what look almost like screws, but, in reality, tun out to be a press-stud. If these studs (there are about 10 of them) are in any way loose, the tray looses any structural integrity it might once have had and rattles and vibrates like hell! Mine does it to, although I haven't taken it back to the garage yet, as it is only 400 miles old, but will mention it at the 150o mile check and will let you know what they think. Richard Quote
owl Posted May 7, 2003 Author Posted May 7, 2003 Hiya Richard thankyou for your reply funny you should mention that, the car went in yesterday but when i washed it on sunday i had a quick look underneath and i gave the underbonnet tray and good banging and it did make a lot of noise especially the side where i have the noise o/s/f but the dealer said when they had it up on the ramp that they didnt think it was this although it makes sense to me because everything else is tight ive actually mentioned that i think its the tray when i took it in cant see what what it could be they have apparently tightened every nut and bolt underneath!! i'll let you know what happens just wondered if you have found the fuel consumption to be excessive? i take it you have the HDI 16V it seems to be very jerky in gears i've mentioned this to them aswell thanks Quote
Guest Mark A Posted May 7, 2003 Posted May 7, 2003 Think the fuel consumption takes thousands of miles to ... er ... optimise itself ... Quote
pork_pie Posted May 7, 2003 Posted May 7, 2003 Yes the fella is right. A car is still a bit (clears throat) tight and wil not deliver decent fuel consumption figures until after its first service at the very earliest. My car (piece of turd) gave 55 at first. 6 months on, I get 61. First service is due in 2500 miles time. The 65.7 mpg figure is within my grasp but hopefully I wil be shot of the car by then because its a pony make. Quote
Oliver Posted May 10, 2003 Posted May 10, 2003 Have had rattle / clanging from day one. (C3 Desire 1.4) Dealer mechanic says from offside front and that thinks it may have something to do with pipework of air con. but I feel that its coming from offside front to mid section. Noise sound like pipework flailing around and happens when going over short pitch rough road, not what you would class as bumps. Have my suspicions about the routing of the fuel pipes through the box section from the engine compartment to the underside of the vehicle. It seems that these can only be retained by a split dual bushing at the engine side and a poorly sized clip adjacent to the exit hole under the car. Must be lots of space for mobility within the box section. If you try to move the pipes back and forth you will hear some noises similar to when driving. Quote
tag Posted May 11, 2003 Posted May 11, 2003 My 1.6 Sensodrive is 1 month old now & going for its 1st service this week. So am making a list of things to be checked I too have noticed a metallic twanging sound when going over deep ruts & checked around found although the spare wheel was fairly secure the tool holder in the centre of the wheel is not & able to move about. It bottoms out on the wheel. I have jammed it in & going out soon to see if thats made any difference. Its been mentioned about the under engine protective tray, had a look but don't seem to have one is this only on diesels? Changing the subject should the key lock all 4 doors when inserting the key in the drivers door (the other doors don't have a key slot) as appossed to using the remote buttons. Mine only locks the drivers door & leaves the others open. Quote
Badlass Posted May 11, 2003 Posted May 11, 2003 Unfortunately the key only locks the drivers door on UK models  Quote
organist Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 Dear C3 list friends, (C3 1.4Hdi 16v exclusive) The metallic 'clattering' noise coming from underneath the car was, as I thought, the plastic undertray, underneath the engine. My car has just had its 1500 mile 'check' and the technician has re-fitted the undertray and the rattle has completely disappeared. Richard (the organist) Quote
Oliver Posted June 22, 2003 Posted June 22, 2003 Ref ongoing rattles and creaks etc... Anyone else getting doorpanel creaks, clicking from passenger 'B' pillar (seatbelt adjuster?) and from other areas around the doors ? Some of it seems to be temperature related, pulled away from parking after work on a particularly warm day and had the worst collection of noises so far. E.Mailed Citroen (France) about 3 months of clattering pipework and progressively more creaks, rattles and clicks. Had a letter from Citroen (UK) apologising for inconvenience that I was experiencing and suggesting that I contacted my Citroen Dealer to try to rectify the apparent problems. Seems that I'm in a loop. Short of filling all bodywork voids with expanded foam or stripping the car and rebuilding (carefully) don't really see that there is likely to be a solution. Is there such a thing as a 'Vendredi' car? If there is, then all our cars must be in that category. This the sixth Citroen in our family (daughter 2, myself 4) - if this C3 was my first it would also be the last. Quote
