Just had my 54 plate 1.4VTR Coupe with only 8500 miles on the clock into the dealer today because had problem with slight clutch judder on first gear take up and was only happening when car engine was warm. Turns out citroen technical are aware of this problem and now my car has to go in to dealer for a new clutch and flywheel fitted!!!

Has anyone else experienced this problem yet??

Which engines does this affect? I get a little bit of judder every so often but i think its normally cause im not giving it enough gas.

Dont know what engines it effects - will ask when it goes in and let you know.

Wasnt sure if it was just my driving but had my dad take it for a spin and it was doing it for him too!

eventually had new clutch fitted this week. Asked the dealer what (if any) other engines this problem affected. They werent sure - but have had a few in for this problem.

So Wozza if your still having problems and its not your driving then i would drop it in to your dealer and get them to take a look at it.

If i hear anything else will let you know.

I too have the 1.4. Mine juddered a bit this morning but I put it down to quick start on a cold engine....looks like I am going to get another letter from Citroen  quite a collection I have now

Not sure if they are sending letters out (at the mo) they might be waiting to see how many they get in with this problem.

I thought it was just me (being a woman driver) and wasnt sure if the car had a problem or not. Thank god it was the car!!!! Sort of!!

you put yours down to woman driver syndrome I put mine down to being a bit of a boy racer and the need to have that old bloke/bus/white van/impreza off the line

I got loads of judder problems the other day i have come to the comclusion when i change fuels my car hates it. i was desperate for fuel other day light had been on for around 20 miles so just pulled in at nearest station usually put optimax in just put tescos stuff in made a HUGE difference. No difference power wise just the smoothness the car didnt feel anywhere near as nice to drive. Even my mate commented on it unless i pulled away with at least 2000+ rpm on the clock it juddered to hell.

Only thing different to normal was the fuel.

Back to optimax again and feels loads better again.

im a BP ultimate man myself, its a bit cheaper (and the garage is round the corner) I do agree that chaepo supermarket petrol does make a world of difference I notice the performance differences straight away...

did you use the Tesco high octane or ordinary. I normally use BP Ultimate but was thinking of trying the Tesco Greenergy 99 octane at my next fill up.

Posted
generally the higher the octane the better, I think Ultimate is 98 or 99. Might be worth running a couple of tanks of tesco through and see if makes any difference...

Not tried the BP stuff yet when optimax is only 91p a litre the ultimate is a bit more. and theres no tesco doing 99 round here for me to try so i just used optimax since the garage was closeby.

But cheapo stuff deffinately makes a difference. On my old Clio it didnt matter was happy running on cheap stuff the C4 isnt.

its the other way round here!! optimax is about 99p and ultimate is 97p

syrup you will have to let us know what it is like

if you have been using bog standard fuel your injectors will have residue on them, if you are using Ultimate or Optimax it will clean them and you should notice the difference after the first tank...

Engine management will also need time to adjust to the different fuel as it will have to change timings. I tried Optimax a few years ago when I had a Fiat barchetta, yes it improves throttle response but I didn't feel the price difference made it worth it.

For lots of technical info about fuel from someone who works in the industry look at this web page

http://www.fiatbarchetta.com/btech/petrol.html

Then you might reconsider how you feel about certain products.

The optimax here is only a 1 - 2pence difference over the normal stuff and my mpg does seem to go up slightly on optimax for some reason. So it balances out.

But have read through that webpage. All i know with my car is it doesnt feel as nice on the 95ron stuff.

heres a random one for you, anyone else's wipers not wiping properly?? my drivers side has started to smear instead of wiping anyone got any tips to fix it??

another quick one, does anyone know if you could swap the passenger side blades over to the drivers side so you get a bigger clear area or do you think that they will meet in the middle??

Posted

The area the blades clean on the other side do you actually use that part for viewing out of? i dont think it matters that much your talking 1cm or so worth of difference.

And try wiping the blades off with a rag soaked in alcohol or vinegar etc just to clean them off properly might have some much on there thats not come off properly.

Mine are fine but i woud expect they should be after only 5 months of owning the car.
